hi all, sorry if this has already been addressed, but i have the admiralty victory paint set and im a bit concerned about the yellow ocre colour, it seems very brown like a kinder french mustard brown rather than yellow im not sure if this is accurate, has anyone else used this colour for victory, i have already painted the launch and it looks fine but i dont want to go further if its not correct. thanks

The colour is correct as it’s termed as yellow ochre and not meant to be bright yellow as shown in the magazine images.

Bright yellow is what was orginally thought many years ago, which was then changed to being yellow ochre and has recently been changed again to being a 'salmon pink' colour of current, which in my opinion looks awful but is supposedly how it really was.

Since there is a post on colour I'm joining for a question.

Can anybody tell by the picture which colour for staining (right word? not a native speaker and lots of choices on google for that) they used on the cross section and for the hull (the part which will be under water)?

BigGrin The Victory was copper plated below the waterline so she didn't collect barnacles and ship worm on the hull Cool

You can get the copper tiles from Deag to stick to the hull
Hope this helps

Thanks, but I want the same staining like these also for the deck planking.

I bought walnut stain, but it seems too dark...

Hi there Lord!

I would think by the shade or colour of the stain it was probably "Light Oak"

The final finish you achieve would also be determined by the type of wood that is used to plank the hull and the decks. Only way to be sure you get the finish you are happy with is to obtain a selection of stains you like the look of and stain some of the same planking strips as tests, settling on the finish you like the best. The colour of the lower hull looks more like Sapele to me with a heavy coating of clear varnish.....

Alan
