Hi built me jig up,and started to glue formers in,I glued the 2 parts of keel together first give me bit more length to hold on. I then glued the first former in and used this to square up in jig,as it mostly curve on the bottom at mo,the jig is getting them crack on square in 2 planes,

Off to a nice start Mick and great to see another Vasa build on the forum... I'll be following your progress all the way....Cool Cool .. One tip, constantly check the alignment of your ribs throughout the course of building the frame. If they are not aligned correctly you'll run into problems later in the build when you come to fitting the decks and marking out the position of the gun ports....Cool Cool .. Good luck with your build.....

Hi thanks to all who looked in and left comments much appreciated, Thanks for the tip Alan I have been using the deck parts to check all alignment, I'd just taken them out for pic of formers,as you can see from pic they align perfect with no gaps anywhere, and sit perfectly flat on all formers,I'd worked out that with the way deck fits the formers need to be perfectly in, Arek Martyn I look forward to your diarys on this kit, and will be following your builds with interest, cheers mick.BigGrin

Looks good Mick, I don't envisage you having any problems fitting the lower decks, it's the upper decks I'm referring to.... The instructions are clear on ensuring the frames are completely parallel to each other as you build up the framing and by following them you shouldn't have any problems. Am really looking forward to following your progress...Cool Cool

Hi bit more done, formers in to no 9 which is as far as pack one goes, the strengthing decks in, stiffens it all up well, only adjustment I made was the 2mm slots are a very small amount to tight, literally one rub with sandpaper to get them to fit, apart from that I have made no adjustments to fit at all,it goes together that well, plus the 3 more parts on the front former, all the time checking squareness, and that formers are parallel from top to bottom and across the width, mine are.next order few paints and start the decorations.cheers mick.BigGrin

Hi Arek ,the building jig works well, holds it nicely ,takes about 5 hrs to glue together, take your time with it ,making sure its all square ,and it works fine, its only down side is the clamps, prob need bit packing in them for such thin keels,I'll be doing this,or the clamps will crack.cheers mick.BigGrin

I have to say I would not bother getting one. I have one and I am not convinced that it makes that much difference over a home made plank and brackets.
Its extremely heavy and difficult to move about once you have a hull in progress and the various movable parts are difficult to move

there is a jig discussion on the forum
http://forum.model-space....aspx?g=posts&t=166

just my view but one of these below may be better if you dont want to scratch build one, they are lighter and have a good reputation, but as soon as the ribs are laid I tend to move the hull to a keel clamp, so you can get to the hull easier for planking so not in it for long.

https://www.cornwallmode...oats_397%2ehtml#SID=464
https://www.cornwallmode...nfo_1_8155.html#SID=464

keel clamps are rally handy but again you could make one for a fraction of the price

https://www.cornwallmode...nfo_MX25%2ehtml#SID=412

this is the one I use it is excellent and I would highly recommend it
https://www.cornwallmode...nfo_1_8155.html#SID=464

hope that helps

Nice work Mick, looking great. That jig really helps with holding everything square while building. Also great for later holding your ship on its side.

Just a quick note Arek,There are various jigs out there. Look at the Jig discussion on the forum. I use the same as Mick on the Soleil.
