This will be my Build Diary of the ICONIC BATTLESHIP SHIP THE MIGHTY HMS HOOD, I intend to fit R/C to the vessel,(this will be a first for me,) but I am confident to go this route because we have other members of the forum who. have done it before and I would like to learn from them as we build together. Thanks to Ian Smith who has given me the incentive to R/C this model and Colin, without who`s total commitment to this project would not have given me the "WANT "to do it. The Diary will start on the 24th August MWG BUILD DIARIES: HMS VICTORY, SOVEREIGN OF THE SEAS, SAN FRANCISCO II, HMS HOOD, HMS ENDEAVOUR LONGBOAT, HMS VICTORY X-SECTION, 007 DB5, NISSAN GTR, CUTTY SARK, RB7, AKAGI, BARK HMS ENDEAVOUR, HUMMER H1, MITSUBISHI ZERO.

Great thanks, and I'm looking forward to it. I'm thinking about whether to go for this ship myself. I've seen the ad and the completed model looks really impressive. I bet the quality of the parts are really good if its from Amati. What's your first impression of this kit mike? As I said I'm interested and would like to hear your thoughts on this? Thank-you!

Hi Glenn, the first impressions are very good, the laser cut parts are excellent quality, and instructions very clear and concise. The R/C kicks in at issue 10, there maybe challenges with a poor fitting island (because of the way the motors and batteries etc are accessed)I will need to review that, but I will not be glueing the Hull untill I have all the parts, I will dry fit all I can. As a static model no question it will be awesome! Hope the above helps you MWG BUILD DIARIES: HMS VICTORY, SOVEREIGN OF THE SEAS, SAN FRANCISCO II, HMS HOOD, HMS ENDEAVOUR LONGBOAT, HMS VICTORY X-SECTION, 007 DB5, NISSAN GTR, CUTTY SARK, RB7, AKAGI, BARK HMS ENDEAVOUR, HUMMER H1, MITSUBISHI ZERO.

The Bismarck R/C offer set cost £115 and only drove two of the three props (third/middle prop was a dummy). Its yet to be seen if the Hood R/C offer pack will have 2 or 4 prop operation, I would hazard a guess at 2 and the cost for the set the same if not more, which when added to the series cost brings the model cost to way over 1k don't tell the Mrs

Having fitted motors in bismarck Mr t think probably two as there is not enough room to fit three motors within the bismarck. The third propeller was drilled into stern screw block on a white nylon thread and propeller is thee same size as the motor driven ones . They are a lot bigger than the ones that come with the static kit form . They also supplied with the radio controlling kit larger size rudder which I would assume they would do with the hood. Current builds.Hachettes build the bismark,HMS Victory, HMS Hood. Finished Builds Corel HMS Victory cross section.

Not quite true re props, most who by-passed the R/C offer set fitted a third motor/propshaft; a two motor set up is simply a cheap alternative with less cost and hassle to install.
