Hi Guys
totally new to this model ship building business but im loving it. So decided on the Sultan Arab Dhow as the reviews for starter kits seems to be best choice. I had a brief chat with Jase, seems a really good guy having read lots of reviews etc. So I went ahead and started. I personally don't think as a novice have done a bad job. Now i'm stuck got that dreaded part... THE RIGGING. i've researched many sights, looked at many pictures. All commens point to same thing Wing it. Has anyone ever actually worked out how it goes? If so please let me know as i'm about to give up. I Want to tackle the Victory but how if I cannot cope with a simple rig like the Sultan Dhow how wll i go on.

Welcome to the forum, hope you enjoy your time with us..... The rigging for the Victory is clearly given in a step by step manner within the instructions so rigging the Victory shouldn't cause you too many problems.

I built this model a while ago and yes the rigging is a challenge. Not sure what instructions you have but this model is available from model space. If you look at the model and click on the build tab you can download the build instructions in a PDF file. The one that covers the rigging is "Pack 4". I put these on my tablet, the main reason was that I had the ability to expand the pictures to view the rigging instructions.

One thing I always do with rigging is to ensure that all the holes in the block are clear, nothing worse when trying to thread the rigging through to find the hole is blocked or not even drilled out.

I did have to resort to pencil and paper with some of the rigging. By this I mean looking at the instructions you can see where the start and end points are but not too sure which way the thread goes. Sketch out the run of the thread from either to point of attachment to the block or hull and draw the lines. There will always be two points of attachment. Where the rigging is attached to the block this was always my start point.

Hopes this makes sense/helps and good luck. Don't give up, in any build I do I find that there are always times when it is just better to walk away for a while and approach the problem later

Hi glad you are happy with your build so farCool Now is not the time to give up
If you download the pack 4 instructions as a pdf from this link

https://www.model-space....e-sultan-arab-dhow.html

You will find all the rigging is shown one line at a time in different colurs with direction arrows. It’s not complicated just take your time study each line one at a time and do them in the order shown in the instructions and you will be fine, if its a particular issue post a pic and I will take a look at it for you
