Hi all The answer- When the churchills were sent to aid in the North Africa Campaign they discovered much to the drivers chagrin that the two horns that carried the tracks acted as a wind tunnel that litterally sucked all the dust and sand kicked up by forward travel into the drivers face and blinded him. The apron and skirt was attached between the horns to stop the self induced dust storm so the driver could see again. Only used in North Africa and not fitted to the D-Day Churchill tanks so I wont be using it on my build but Thought it would make a point of interest as I had not seen the skirts before I bought this resin set. Thanks for looking in and your comments Kev. Its the only time I have seen the skirt as an option in a resin set. Coming along nicely Andy. interesting fact about the skirt. Current builds.Hachettes build the bismark,HMS Victory, HMS Hood. Finished Builds Corel HMS Victory cross section.
