Sorry guys just had a thought for the new peeps who are just staring out. Glue as I found out early on in the my build is obviously very important. I used any old run of the mill superglue when I first started which wasn't good and got told off by a few members for doing it lol.

This is what I'm using now

I'm not sure if this is what others are using but I've had no problems so far with it and it's worked extremely well plus once it's dry it's easy to sand off and it's water proof

Thats the hull complete (ish)

Now it's starting to look like a battleship all it's missing is guns lol. Il put up few more pictures after it's all sanded down and smooth then it will look better. I'm quiet pleased with the result so far considering I was worried about the planking I think it's gone ok.

Comments welcome

theres double planking on the hull it goes right around the bottom i think it start the from the top of the deck and the top deck is sanded back to the first planking so it sits in side the second and the second planking is usely put on with impact glue no need for nails if useing impact and i have bough small powerfully magnets on e bay 6 mm x6mm dia and they clamp the planking to geather 20 for a few quid

when sanding back the deck watch your angle you think you have a lot to sand but the angle at the front section is about 20 deg down to about 10 deg at the removeable section to nearly 0 deg at back end of this section just follow the planking angle the book tell you about the front none removable section and to follow the thin ply wood part this gives you the right angles, dont sand the thin ply wood, when you tuch the frames you know you are there

Looking really good sean. I hope to have mine at this stage in the next couple of weeks. I like willie's idea of using magnets for the second planking layer but if you want to use pins I bought some ultra fine peco track pins from a model shop for about £1.50 and they will do the whole ship. Just depend whether you want to fill the pin holes or not.
Cheers
Peter
