Is there any reason why the head goes round further round to the right then it does to the left, it stops short of 180 degrees when turning to the left, but to the right it turns just a little past 180 degrees

That's how it's been designed. Maybe to protect the cables going to the head?

This is because the head limit switch bar that goes into each sensor on the body is positioned 1/3rd away from the right side limit switch and 2/3rds away from the left limit switch. Once he has registered both limit switches on start up and then centred the head he is fully calibrated for normal use and correct as per the design.
