There were numerous gliders used in WW2, but what happened to them once they had landed in some far flung field? The answer was to hook em up and "drag em oot". This job was accomplished by specially adapted C47`s and I`ve attached a link below showing how this was achieved: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dgu5yh0HkgY
The history of a C47 called "Drag Em Oot" is in the link below and this aircraft still flies today and performs parachute drops at air displays. http://www.ruudleeuw.com/c47-dragemoot.htm

Amazing watching that video in that the tug could pull a 1-ton glider from stationary into being airborne in just 6 seconds and not be dragged out of the sky itself!!
Kev Especially as the tug is so low. You`d expect it to come down before the glider even took off. Regards delboy271155 (Derek) COME BACK GUY FAWKES "YOUR COUNTRY NEEDS YOU"

I should imagine there was a rather strong tightening of the muscles around the derrier for the tug pilot! Lol!
