Hi, when I finished the build of R2D2 when I started it up it done all the normal things such as turning head and lights etc. I connected to the app eventually and when I press button 1 on R2D2 he drove around bumping into things and the motors would not turn off but it manual mode it worked fine. I switched it off and went to bed and in the morning I switched it on and nothing. No power, I tried charging the batteries again but still nothing, I have since brought a new set of batteries and nothing. I am stumped, has anyone got any suggestions.

Thank you
Tomick

Can you post a link to the batteries you have purchased?

I can’t see any info that indicates if it is an Unprotected battery or what it’s capacity discharge Amperage is? Possibly contact the vendor for this info as we need to first establish you have adequate batteries.

I will check with the company to get information needed. If they turn out to be the wrong batteries could you give me an idea of what damage will have been done or what bits may need replacing please?
Thank you

Looking at the page spec again, it says Protected battery which you must change as the spec needed is Unprotected type., I also suspect that the capacity discharge Amperage is below 3Amps (you need batteries which have at least 3Amps).

Swop the batteries then see how the start-up and operation goes and take it from there. A battery that many got hold of is this one: https://18650.uk/product/samsung-30q-button-top/

Hi I've purchased the batteries you sent me the link to and I've fully charged them but I've put them in and started the start up process and still nothing. No power or anything. Could having the wrong batteries in there before have damaged any parts?

you might need to re do the activation procedure. ensure the master switch underneath is off, plug the mains charger in for 5 seconds or so, and remove. then switch on. see if that works?

That's what I've done and nothing works at all. Could the wrong batteries have damaged it? Are there any parts you suggest may have been damaged that i can reorder. Thank you

First, if you could check to make sure the new batteries are making good contact in the battery box.

If you could also borrow a voltage meter to check what power is comming out of the battery box by testing the two lead end pins.

seems odd reading back that in your 1st post it worked, now it doesnt? flat batteries? maybe when removing the battery box you have pulled a wire off the circuit board in the battery pack? might be worth taking it apart to have a look? dont touch the circuit board though.

You should get a reading of around 12.3v from the battery box. Check the connections/terminals on the batteries inside the battery box, making sure all the batteries have a good connection. If you only have 2.9v that is not enough to run R2.

Sorry I meant to put 12.9v from the battery box but it still won't start.
Thanks

Just check all the connections again, particularly the front button panel cable/connection, but you may need a replacement mcu.

I've checked all the connections and they are all ok. How would I go about ordering a new mcu? Do you know what issue it was in?
Thank you
