So I finished my R2 before Christmas but had to wait till now to get the batteries. I bought the pink Samsung button top unprotected batteries. I’ve charged them as per the instructions , fitted them in , plugged the mains in for a few seconds and switched off then switched him on for the first time........nothing.... not a light...a movement...a sound.........I’ve checked the connections in the battery box , they look good , checked all connectors and pins...all good but still completely dead......Anyone else experienced this..... any suggestions would be appreciated.....

Could you borrow a voltage meter and test the contacts at the end of the lead on the battery box.
Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .

Ok.....I’ve checked the batteries....each one is reading between 4.13 and 4.15 so I’m guessing they are sound. However when I measure the voltage at the end of the red and black power connector from the battery box I’m getting zero volts......all the batteries are fitted correctly and looks like all the button tops are touching......

Read elsewhere on the forums that some batteries are not making good contact in the box at the positive terminal. Some because of an issue with the box, some because the button tops are not full button tops, but just stubby tops.

I have bought the Samsung 30q button top batteries which a lot of people have used with success with R2. That’s why I bought them also.... they are definitely in the battery box nice and tight and making contact with the positive terminals.........

I made that mistake the first time when thinking mine didn't work, just pressed the main power switch on his "bottom" BigGrin

Have you checked the power output from the batterys in situ in the battery box if there all making contact with the box you should get around 12.3 volts total from the batterys.
Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .

You missunderstand me I meant to test from the first battery across to the last battery across the battery box.

When I put the volt meter inside the battery box and measure on the terminals where the batteries touch I’m getting readings of 4.14v on the first 2 batteries, 4.14v on the middle 2 batteries and 4.14v on the final 2 batteries. Therefore there’s power inside the battery box directly on the terminals but there’s zero volts at the end of the wire which connects into R2’s mcu.
