Im wondering if its easier to build the entire false keel before i add the ribs!!!!

Reason im asking if i build the false keel then i can attach it to a jig and from there.....

Hi Ant

My recommendation would be to build as per the instructions, the official build and the official video build. Once you have glued the frames to the keel then you can set the whole assembly into the build jig. Official Build and video build follow the instructions very closely and highlight potential problems you may come across during the build.

Hi Ant
Glad to see you're up and running BigGrin
Your right, the time does fly when having fun ThumpUp

A word of caution though - be careful with the Gorilla Glue! I used it on my Trinny build. Had a problem, which needed to be dismantalled, and the glue set like concrete. I would advise Aliphatic Glue. Same grab, but any problems you can at least get it to come apart with hot water!

Great to see your pics Ant and it looks like you're off to a very nice start, all neat and tidy. On the launch, be very careful when it come to fairing and the frames, they are very delicate and easily broken.... Cool Cool .. Look forward to seeing your next update....

Only problem so far is the one the part 3 supports on the launch..
The one on the photo is extremely loose...
So i need to somehow keep it in place...

I have had two thoughts.
One is to try and put a slither into the joint where it attaches or just a tiny spot of superglue on the outer edge to hold it...

Or
I could sand the edge of piece 3 and slot it back in after to plank it..

Any other ideas that may help....

Hi Ant,

The two #3 formers are temporary formers to aid with the planking of the hull. You can glue the formers to the build jig but not to the frame. You can apply a little glue to the small tab at the base of #3 that fits into the frame. This should be enough to hold the formers in place. Also, when planking ensure you do not glue any planks to these #3 formers. You can sand the edges of the formers as part of the fairing process then glue them to the jig when done, just take care you don't take off too much material when doing so, check often... When you come to separate the launch from the jig these two formers should simply fall away from the assembly.

Hope this helps.

Regards

Alan

It shows this in steps 6 & 7 of the instructions and it is mentioned in the Official Build Diary for Stage 6. The official build follows the instructions very closely and gives additional pointers and tips to assist you....

I got into the painting of the launch exterior yesterday..
I had some acrylic paints from the plane i built with my nephew spare so though why not..

Noticed i kept the boat on the jig for easier handling when painting..

Still requires a few coates though..
