Some of you may know of the incident with our puppy getting his gnashers into the victories bow and caused some damage..
Well on thursday and today (friday) ive managed to remove most of the damaged planks from the bow and the sides.
The bow ribs/supporters looks quite a simple repair so far.......
A bit of strengthening and im hoping i can continue the build.....

Hopefully my phone arrives on saturday then i can add some pictures.....

I have moved the repair build back onto my build topic where i really should have put it in the first place.....

As i said on the other topic the replanking of the bow just didnt line up with the planking on the sides on width..
Even though i put the same amount of lengths and butt joined them after a couple of planks placed the butted planks became smaller when next to each other...

So after a while and carefull thought i decided to remove the planks from bow to stern covering the lower cannon ports on both sides.
This will give me a straight edge to work back down the hull.

It does not matter if it adds more time to the build but to me it had to be done and it gave me peace of mind...

Once removed(pics below) i then found some damage from the dropping incident.
Because i could not remove and bulk frames i used the ones the Delboy sent me.
I cut them to size and glued and clamped the into position this will strength the the cracked bulkheads luckily i could not see any damage further up the ribs as they get thinner and shaped so thats a plus...

I have a few bits of planking to remove from stern/transend and then im onto carefully removing the dried glue....

Its a shame you are having to remove so much but at least when its all back together you will know that its all sound snd will have confidence the rest of the assemble will build on afirm base.

Well tbh removing the glue didnt take long only a couple of hours.
While im at it i gave the gun ports a fresh lick of paint aswell..

What i have noticed in the rebuild is that the timber supplied in the first few boxes with the with the monthly subscription is rather brittle.
Then the continuing boxes had timber the was very hard to bend know matter how long i soaked it for so ended up buying new limewood strips......

Started to evenly lay the planks yesterday on both sides.
I only pinned down two rows just to gauge how the lie on the ribs and around the bow.....

So the big refit(BigGrin) is moving along nicely.

I had plenty of free time the last few days..

One thing i have found out is after i pulled the planks off etc there where bits to do like faring etc.

The picture shows one side but ive evenly planked both sides....

A little progress report...
The transom and the sides are replanked now.
Just the bow to plank.....

The three planks going around the bow with the gaps are just tacked into place as i made the same for each side.....

Its a case of soak several planks bend with the iron then attach one on each side leave to dry then attach 2 more the day after...

Glue them in the morning then a few hrs later bend 2 more and pin then leave to dry......

That looks really good.

Still some way to go on my own victory but i restarted it and its amazing just how the issues you may have encountered the first time around suddenly vanish.

The only task i dont envy you is having to re-cut all those gun ports but sure you will get through all of that very well.

Hope it continues well.

Tony

That is something im not looking forward to tbh.
The limewood im using seems to be a bit harder than the first lot supplied with the suscription.

But its another step forward in the rebuild........
