the top and bottom rows look fine. the middle row however looks like they are up against the bulkhead and looking at the official build they may need to be off the bulkhead by about 5-8 mm

Hi Ant 62!
I just compared my DelPrado hull with your photo and my middle ports are very similar to yours - however - the DelPrado construction method is completely different to the DeAg and my gun ports are actually fixed to the bulkheads so they can't be altered in position!
Erik is quite right though, I just checked with photos of the actual Victory and the middle gun ports are right in the centre of the ones above and below, not offset. I would suggest just measuring the distance between the upper and lower ports and divide it in two, that'll give you the exact centre of the middle port.

Looks to me like you're missing the first port near the bow on the center row and the stern most port on the bottom row doesn't look right. Do a comparison of your port positions using the pics attached....

Alan

I have repositioned the middle gunports on both sides and ready to start cutting them out..
On the lower row and the gun port closest to the stern i will carefully cut back a few rows of planks on both sides to a bulk head and then replace them..

Then mark out the cannon port in the appropriate location and cut them out....

Thanks for that i appreciate it BigGrin

I must admit that i had to have a good long think about it before i attempted to repair the damaged areas...
But what i did learn from the repairs gave me a different insight into the build...
When i striped the planking right back i wish i stripped it all off now but never mind...

I do have another full Deagostini Victory kit here that my missus bought me as she thought i would struggle to repair this one im building......

I have amazed myself in what i have done with the repairs i know its not perefect but this is my first proper build and its a journey......

Ant62,
You have gone through a massive learning curve with this build and I really admire you for sticking to the task. Many a person would have taken the easy way out and scrapped the project and started on the new kit your wife has bought you. Judging by the photos you have put up, I can see that you have worked really hard to get back on track, so don't give up now. We all make errors with these builds and sometimes those errors look unsurmountable.
I know, because believe me, I've been there ..... more than once.
Your model is looking to be back on track and will be a fine example when finished. Keep us up to date with your progress and remember that there are many people far more experienced than me on this forum who are willing to offer as much advice as you may need.
Just get that desk built and get on with the original project. BigGrin BigGrin
Good luck
Chris (Goddo)

Thanks Goddo much appreciated.......

Hopefully i can be getting to grips with the build again by the weekend...

This covid as proved a majour ball ache in buying materials and delivery..

We know this first hand as the whole back garden had a huge make over starting at the end of Feb 2020 and as soon as the lockdown started everything seemed to be held back for months infact the job didnt finish until the end of August.....

Anyway leaving the build alone all this time as given me a fresh impetus on the build......

Stay safe people..
