I have been building the r2d2 since 2017 got issues 97 98 99 and 100 just before Christmas got the final model finished on Christmas Eve.
My son had got me the batterys for Christmas so was unable to fit them he did let have one to test in the charger that came with issue 92 and I charged this battery ok
On Christmas day I put another battery on charge hoping to charge the rest as the day went on I kept checking the battery and when it was charged changed for the next battery
But it would not charge in fact it will not charge at all it will give me a charge level but that is all
I have two batterys with a reading of 4.05 and three with 3.70 I put the batterys in the model to see if they would work
But I did not read the bit in issue 100 about putting the charger in and turning it on for 2 seconds so nothing happened I have known tried putting the charger on for 2 seconds
But still nothing happens I have checked all of the cables and they are connected correctly and all are ok
Is it because the batterys are not fully charged

The only ones I can find on RS are these and there flat tops-

Can you confirm these are your batterys or provide a link to the ones you have or provide a photo of the battery you are using please.

I used 18650 lithium ion batteries 3.7 volt button top terminals no protection 2600 mah capacity RS stoke no 880-1558 brand RS pro from RS components

i was only able to charge two of the batteries to full capacity showing a charge of 4.05 volt the remaining 4 show a charge of 3.70 volts i have a replacemet charger coming as in issue 92 could the low charge on 4 of the batteries be the problem what batteries did you use and where did you get them

The problem is unlikely with the test charger.

You appear to have 2 faulty batteries but this aside, your batteries are indicated on the label as being “Protected” type which is incorrect for R2 use - they should be “Unprotected” (no protection) type, and therefore you first need to replace all of your batteries. Also there seems to be no spec info about the capacity discharge amperage of your battery which needs to be 3 Amps minimum.

A battery source can be found here: https://www.ecoluxbatter...30q-3000mah-15a-battery

If the RS Components webpage or your receipt, notes your battery as “no protection”, I would contact them for return/full refund as you have received “Protected” batteries as noted on the sleeve.

Those batteries are very low power as 9watts/hour at 4volts equates to 2.25amps. Like Tomick has said if they are not charging/or not charging fully then it would also appear that you have at least 5 bad batteries. It also appears that they are protected flat tops. https://uk.rs-online.com...eable-batteries/8801558/
