just after a quick opinion from everyone else on here! after joining the gearbox to the engine block as shown in the magazine and in the official build diary, i found the gearbox to wobble around too much for liking, especially as the engine and gearbox are part of the main structure of the car. has anybody else considered using ABS adhesive to join the grooves in the gearbox front plate to the "pins" of the two gearbox side plates once they have been screwed together to make the whole assembly more rigid?? ive already done it so hopefully im not missing something!! its not very clear the exact point im talking about but hopefully most will understand. ill post pics if required to indicate where i mean!! cheers, scott If at first you don't succeed........skydiving is not for you!

yeah I've got the same thing, but I'm sure as we go along it will come together and strengthen up as some other parts I've had issues with that come together. Mclaren MP4-23 - COMPLETED Red Bull RB7 - COMPLETED Senna MP4-4 - COMPLETED

Hi Scott, Mine is exactly the same, and I suspect everyones elses' will be. It will probably tighten up into its' correct position once everything else around that area is in place and I suspect that is the VERY reason why the play exists in that area, to allow for everything to lign up correctly later ?? We still have an electrics panel that goes into that area in later issues, though I am not sure whether it sits into the gap between the engine and gearbox, plus the gearbox will need to follow the contour of the undertray where it rises up at the back of the main diffuser?? If you have glued the points solid as you say, then you may find that the angles between the gearbox lower edge and the undertray are slightly out and you will end up with a nasty gap somewhere !! Everybody builds a model slightly differently when it comes to alignment of parts, so maybe this is to allow for that problem ?? A case of the models are all the same ... only different, if you get my meaning ?? P.S. I think also, when we come to bolt the engine to the undertray, you will be able to glue the bottom face of the gearbox sides to the undertray at the same time if you wish, which will make things very solid by then ?? Regards ... Kev.

Just read this post as it has been bugging me as well. Went back on the build tonite to see if I have missed a trick.....so thanks for a useful post. I do think this should be sticky'd for future builders though
