Pod 2

Parts supplied:
Front hatch, Front hatch inner, Hatch stay, Stopper, Springs x2, Hinge pins x2.

Fit the stay to the front hatch inner and use the tweezers to fit a hinge pin, inserting it from the outside and with the ribbed tip left exposed then push the pin fully in. Use the back of the tweezers if necessary and then repeat the steps for the other pin.

Next fit the stopper into the recess in the inner hatch with its tip seated in the notch. Then using superglue fix the front hatch to the inner hatch, via the locating lugs.

Finally place the loop at the end of a spring onto the hook at each side of the hatch stay.

Excavator

Parts supplied:
Chassis, Wheels A (fret), Wheels B (fret), Tracks x2, Axles x4.

Separate the drive wheels A and B from the fret and glue them together making two drive wheels. Then do the same for the wheels A and B making six wheels.

Fit an axle into one of the drive wheel sets and the other three axles into a wheel set. Now checking the orientation of the chassis fit the drive wheel/axle through the rearmost holes in the chassis sides. Then fit the remaining drive wheel set to complete the drive axle.

Pass one of the wheel axles through the next hole in the chassis and press another wheel set onto the end of the axle. Now repeat for the remaining axles and wheels. Finally fit the two tracks over the wheels.

Stage complete, carefully store any remaining parts in a stage labelled bag.

Pod 2

Parts supplied:
Frames 1 to 7

Note: this is a test fit only for the frames of pod 2 and that frames 1 - 6 have their numbers stamped on them.

Having checked the orientation of frame 7, insert the top of frame 1 into the first slot in the front of frame 7. Now repeat this process and fit frames 2 - 6 into frame 7 working from frame 1 towards the rear of the pod.

Excavator

Parts supplied:
Canopy, Cockpit, Roll bar, Scoop, Nozzles x2, Arm L, Arm R, Claws x2, Arm joint L, Arm joint R, Arm mount L, Arm mount R.

Insert the pin on one side of the scoop into the hole at the front of the body, then carefully insert the other pin into the other hole and check that the scoop can rotate.

Insert the two pins on a nozzle into the two holes in the rear of the body and then fit the second nozzle to the other side of the body. Next insert the three pins on the underside of the canopy into the corresponding holes in the cockpit and then insert the pins on the underside of the cockpit into the three corresponding holes in the body. Now insert the pins of the roll bar into the holes on either side of the cockpit.

Noting that the frontmost pins of the arm mounts L and R are thicker than the rearmost, fit arm mount L to the left side of the body and arm mount R to the right side of the body. Now insert one of the claws into the rectangular hole in arm L and the second claw to arm R.

Fit the pin on the underside of arm L into the hole in mount L and then fit arm joint L onto the left side of the body and the left arm. Now repeat this operation for the R arm and joint.

Finally insert the two posts in the centre of the chassis into the two holes in the underside of the body, then check that the arms and scoop can move. The Excavator is now complete.

Stage complete, carefully store any remaining parts in a stage labelled bag.

Parts Supplied:
Front panel (inner/outer), Details 1(X2) and details 2- 5 on a fret, Details 6 and 7 on a fret, Details 8 - 17, Screws (X2), Washers (X2).

The inner and outer parts of the front panel are supplied temporarily fastened to each other. Separate them, add some glue to the fixing points and then reattach them, holding the parts together until the glue has dried.
.
Remove the detail parts supplied on the sprues, then trim any burrs.
All the detail parts used in this stage should be secured with a dot of glue.
On the left side of the inner hatch fit details 2 and then 4. Next fix detail 8 making sure there is an A stamped on the back of the part and that you orient it exactly as shown. Now fit detail 9 (stamped B) orientating the part as shown and make sure each part is pressed into place.

At the top of the inner hatch fix details 15, 14 and 3. Then fix detail 10 being careful with the delicate part. Detail 11 is now fixed next to 10 where its recess will accommodate the right arm of detail 10.

Working on the right side of the inner hatch fix details 12, 16 and 17. Now fix the first detail 1 vertically, making sure that it engages fully with all the narrow slots. Then fix the second detail 1 horizontally above the first. Carry on by fixing detail 13, checking that you have the correct orientation and then detail 6 (This is the larger of two similar parts), detail 7 and detail 5. The internal details of the front panel are now complete.

Next, slot the front hatch of your Pod 2 assembly through the middle of the pod front panel and slide the bottom ridge of the front panel in between the front hatch stay and the pod floor making sure that everything is flush in this area. Now carefully turn the assembly over, place a washer at the fixing point and secure it with a screw, then repeat on the other side.
