Hi Gandale
You have been my inspiration and guide to this build and I am always amazed how you do the highlights on the the very small sculptures.
I try so hard to match you but not quite there.
I am glad you are continuing with the build.
It is funny you are missing part 101 as I am also missing that part.
Eddie.
PS I am still having great difficulties posting photo’s to this site but you can see my build on Model Ship World forum

Hi Eddie and thank for your very kind comments. I pleases me no end to know my Vasa build has been inspirational to you, it is the reason why the Official build was undertaken, to provide guidance to modellers like yourself in building this beautiful kit so they end up with a build they can be proud of.

I've had a look at your Vasa build and a very nice job you're doing to her too. Will drop in from time to time to see how you are progressing....Cool Cool

I am still waiting for stage 101 and packs 11 & 12. It is hoped this problem will be resolved in the very near future allowing the build to come to a successful conclusion.Cool Cool

Best regards

Alan

Stage 100 Contents: Carriage, Carriage Wheels, Dowel, Cannon, Dummy Cannons and Decorations

Remove any flash or burrs from the three decorations C74, spray them with metal primer and leave to dry. Follow the painting guide provided within the instructions to paint these decorations then store carefully in a bag labelled with this stage number.

Remove any flash or burrs from the ten dummy cannons, paint them with metal primer and leave to dry. Paint the dummy cannons with the same bronze paint that you have used on the other cannons. Retrieve ten of the 20mm dowels from stage 99. Glue a dowel into the wider end of the ten dummy cannons.

The assembly of the cannon and carriage is the same as that outlined in Stage 2 so will not be repeated here. Assemble the cannon and carriage then store everything in a bag labelled with this stage number.

This stage is now complete.

Stage 101 Contents: Gallery Roof, Decorations and Mast Top Fret.

Locate the doorway on the quarterdeck. Now retrieve a 1x5mm wooden strip from stage 84 and cut a length to fit between the outer edge of the door frame and the bulwark, up against the uprights and glue into place. Cut a second length of strip to fit on top of the first, overlapping by 1mm and glue into place. Now complete the bulkhead with a further three lengths of strip, each overlapping the last by 1mm. Repeat the process on the other side of the door frame. Once dry, cut away the excess of the top strips so their top edge is aligned with the deck.

Remove all the parts from the mast top fret T2 and smooth the edges of every piece. I painted and stained the parts prior to assembly. Test-fit and glue one of the crosstrees into the first notches of the two trestletrees, checking that they are perpendicular. Now test-fit and glue the other two crosstrees into the other notches of the trestletrees, ensuring that they are all at right angles.

Test-fit and glue the 12 ribs into the notches in the platform. Once dry, glue the rail onto the tops of the ribs. Turn the platform over and glue the crosstrees, centred onto the underside of it. Make sure you get the orientation of the opening in the platform the correct way around.

Remove any flash or burrs from the decorations received with this stage, then apply a coat of metal primer. Paint the decorations as outlined within the instructions. The three decorations C141a, C141c and C141d are finished in stage 102.

This stage is now complete. Store the assemblies and decorations in a bag labelled with this stage number.

Pack 9 complete.

Pack 10

Stage 102 Contents: Mast Top and parts fret, Gallery Roof and Decorations.

Remove the parts from the mast top fret and sand the edges smooth. Note: The staining/painting of the fighting top was completed as outlined in build stage 95 so won’t be repeated here. Glue one of the crosstrees into the first notches of the two trestletrees, and then glue the second crosstrees into the third notches. Now glue the small chock into the middle notches. Before the assembly dries, make sure the parts are all set at right angles to each other.

Take one of the ribs (T3-6) and glue it into the centre notch furthest from the rectangular cut out, ensure the rib is aligned with the opposite notch. Glue the other four ribs (T3-6) onto the platform, two on either side of the first rib. Now fix the two ribs (T3-7) into the notches at either side of the platform ensuring they are aligned with each other. Glue the two ribs (T3-8) into the next notches around the platform followed by the two ribs (T3-9). Glue the last rib (T3-10) into the remaining notch then glue the circular rail on top of the ribs and leave for the glue to dry. Now glue the crosstrees onto the underside of the top platform, ensuring the crosstrees are flush with the edges of the rectangular opening in the platform.

Paint the inside of the first bow gun port on either side of the hull with a little black paint (RAL 9004). Retrieve the 10 (1x2x300mm) wooden strips from stage 97. Note: I chose to stain these strips with a walnut wood stain rather than paint. Locate the fifth gun port of the upper gun deck. Cut and fit four lengths from the strips to fit inside the port, 1mm in from the edge, starting at the bottom edge, then the top edge followed by the two sides. Repeat the process for all the gun ports on both sides of the hull as well as the two at the stern.

Retrieve the three incomplete decorations C141a, C141c and C141d from stage 101. Follow the painting guide within the instructions to complete.

Store the mast top assembly and any unused parts in a bag labeled with this stage number.

This stage is now complete.
