Well, this just arrived on my doorstep.

It's going to get the full treatment - missing wiring, pipework, scratchbuild any missing areas, full leather trim and carpets...

Well, I've decanted the gigantic box down into a far smaller one that I can at least store in my cave.
The two big boxes to the right contain all the parts (so far) for the EM DeLorean.

As I have the full Countach kit in one go, I don't need to follow the instruction build which would have me assembling and storing half-built parts until a much later date so I'll be jumping straight in with the engine although I'll be doing some major surgery to the seats as I intend trimming them in leather.

Onwards.

BigGrin Who's a lucky boy then Roy! That's some kit you have there, and an ambitious project to embark on. However, if anyone can do it justice, you can ThumpUp

Good luck with your build.

Cheers Gray

Not a huge start yet as I'm gathering information/images on the actual car. I want to add as many 'missing' bits as I can, as well as re-trim the interior in leather.

A little start on the engine, so not much to speak of just yet.

I've jumped the gun a bit with the interior but I must admit, I do enjoy trimming bits in leather.
It's sometimes a challenge to get a flat sheet of skin to go around complex shapes.
The rear end of the tunnel is one such piece...

Well, I've got a bit carried away with the interior.

The door side sills really were a problem. Some SERIOUS compound curves, so what you now see as sorted is actually about the 3rd-4th attempt on each.
How on earth they trimmed the real cars is beyond me!

The second seat is still to do so on we go...

I have admit this one is far more difficult to trim than the E Type.
Anyway, interior tub now sorted...

Stunning work Roy, looks so much better. Where do you get your leather from?
I’ve got some leather to do the Porsche, but seems a little thick.

Cheers

Thanks Mark.
I have a friend in the ladies gloves/handbag business and he gets my leather for me. It's not cheap, as it's really high quality thin skin but it's worth it.

I've moved frontward for a while and built up the spare wheel bay.
Almost everything was repainted, assorted extra wiring and pipes added, plus a battery decal.

Will you be making battery or ignition coil* decals available on your ebay store for the Countach?

*assuming you make some---of all the parts in the kit, I believe they are in the most need of additional markings.

Any electrical mods planned? I'm considering replacing the LED's for brighter ones, and maybe trying to diffuse the light a bit more for the brake lights.

I'll have a look at Countach decals and see what I can come up with.

I'm not adding anything electrical as TBH, I think the lights/sound etc are just a gimmick that is ignored forever a few days after the model is finished and in a display case.

If it helps, based on the details molded into the top of the kit part, and being "a battery readily available in Japan", I believe the model's battery is trying to replicate a Yuasa "YBX3334" battery like this one:

https://i.ebayimg.com/00...oAAOSwdr1b7IRI/$_86.JPG

http://www.gestbatteries...ult/bateria-ybx3334.jpg

Overall, I think the kit could most use detailing regarding the electrical system----battery/alternator/ignition. I'll be your first customer for anything you make for those. :)
