Hi, I'm starting stage 90 (of the monthly magazine build) and am confused about the dimensions of the pin rails. The build diary states "Pin rail posts - Some centre pin rail posts were made at week 55. However, it will be easier to rig the ship, and the pin rails will be more accurate, if the posts are made taller. Use the 5x5mm strip supplied in this issue and issue 84 to make replacement uprights to the dimensions shown at step 5 of page 10 - the method is as described in issue 55". I've no idea as to what 'step 5 of page 10' relates to as I'm using the monthly build magazines and there are no revised dimensions there. Whilst I have the pin rails I built at week 55 I need to know where exactly to find the dimensions of the revised, taller pin rails? Can anyone tell me, please. Thanks, Mark

Hi Just had a look st this for you and step 5 on page 10 of magazine 90 shows the diemensions table. In this you can see the height of the uprights is 20mm. Going back to the shorter versions in magazine 55 page 11 the table shows the uprights as being 15mm high. So between the two magazines the uprights have increased to 20mm in height so you need to work from the table in magazine 90. Were mag 90 refers to the method as used in mag 55 that is referring to page 11 steps 1 through 8 were it shows how to mark up and cut the posts. Do the same but working on 20mm rather that 15mm Kind regards Tony Happy Modelling

Thanks. The height I made them at stage 55 was 20mm so I guesss my magazine contained the correct height.

Now that is interesting and something i have marked in my magazine because my issue 55 shows the height as being 15mm which as you point out magazine 90 suggests 20mm is better. I collected my model when it first came out so wonder if they changed to magazine detail? Did your magazine 55 have the height as 20mm then? Happy Modelling

I purchased the Victory as soon as it came out and it said 15mm.
I notice the pdf instructions say 20mm but official build diary still shows 15mm at stage 55. Perhaps this could be corrected for those coming up behind.

I bought my model in the 12 X monthly packs. Pack 6 contains stages 51 - 60, which I guess is roughly equal to the weekly parts ie my stage 55 equates to week 55 when first issued. The dimensions for the upright posts are shown as 20mm high. These I made and put to one side as instructed, for later use. Now on Pack 9, stages 81 - 90. Stage 90 involves making the quarter deck fittings and after making the shot garlands and the bulwark pin rails launches straight into the fitting of the mast grating pin rails. It is silent on specifically talking about the ones made earlier at (my) stage 55 and I am left to conclude that they. I only raised the issue of dimensions as it is referred to in the text of the build diary. Had it not done so I would have ignorantly soldiered. Unfortunately, the magazines I'm using don't tell you if what you've done is correct or not! thanks for your replies, Mark
