Hi all,
Having started a FW190 but had many ships sat waiting and I was itching to build another so the plane has taken a back seat.

I'm build this with the Eduard Big Ed set and wooden decks. Have gone through Kens great build, taken some pointers, only he thought he had bits missing the Eduard frets which I have checked and are all present plus attemptedto fit incorrect parts to places. The instructions are good . I found this set cheaper than the pontos set by £100 which I'd expect as Pontos sets are very expensive. The paint scheme Will be the disruptive colours. Only thing is the ship is being built as 1945 refit. So paint won't match the year, I'm not after too much accuracy but a nice looking model to display at home.

This is my first Tamiya kit so hopefully it will be a good one. I started by drilling the portholes out then cleaning the decks up ready for the PE parts and the wooden decks which are at a fitted at a later point..

looks good and a nice kit that should build into a sweet looking display model.

One tip, undercoat the entire deck then put the top coat on to cover the whole deck with the colour the lockers/fittings ect on the deck that will show above the wood deck. The reason for this is the wood decks are very thin and can show the difference in colour if you have just painted around the lockers fittings. Cool

Cheers Mark and Andy, Luckily the lockers are white on the disruptive so shouldn't look too bd under the wood decks.

I have now installed the decks and cleared up the edges of the deck and started with the PE.

Here are some more of the work done last night. I have finished adding all the locker tops and doors, also the wave breaker. Had no issues with missing with the PE parts.

This is looking great so far! With all that etch parts it seems that nowadays it`s more work to remove details from the decks, than actually biulding them!
