More like my nightmares Phil - lol.

Anyway, front cradle now sorted and all in primer.
This whole area under the bonnet (hood) will be satin black, as it is on the real car.
Actual body, bright red...

On we go.

First bit of major filler on the body joins now rubbed down, and another coat of primer so I can see where more work is needed.

Back on with this one for a while so I've given the front frame and firewall area a coat of satin black.
The actual car I'm making has this area in black even though the rest of the car is bright red.
Once dry, I'll mask it off and prepare the body for a full coat of white primer followed by the red.

Many thanks chaps.

I've masked off the front frame and interior and now the body has a few coats of white primer.
This shows up flaws, 'dimples' , dents etc that need to be attended to before another coat of primer.
Then a fine rub down and eventually, some body colour...

Edit - forgot to add the boot air vent - now sorted.

The car had a good 24 hours for the primer to dry, then a fine sanding all over with 1200 grit wet and dry.
A really good dusting and brushing and then the red went on.

2 base coats, 15 mins between each, and then 2 'flood' coats, again 15 mins between each.

I use Halfords car paints as they work so well on large models.

When dry, a bit of a buffing.
I don't think I'll use a clear coat as I always think it looks a bit 'too' glossy, but it depends how the red dries out...

Apologies for the images - reds always look a bit peculiar when taken indoors using flash...

Well, now unwrapped from the masking and a base coat of satin black on the interior rear wall.
These areas will eventually be covered with thin black rubber sheet so the black is only really needed at the edges etc to cover any possible gaps in the rubber.
I'll leave it alone now for the rest of the day to let the red harden a bit more.

Roy.

Many thanks for looking in on my waffle you chaps.

The dash I have is LHD.
The actual car is RHD so it needs changing over.

The dash support panel had to be cut on both sides and the steering column section swapped over. All quite simple.
I cast a new racing RHD dash in resin and that is now in place with new race gauge decals.

A little bit I couldn't resist at this early stage - the vent holes in the boot lid.

Roy.
