Many thanks you chaps. A bit more today. Fluid reservoirs are in - a different location to many E Types but that's where they are in this particular car. A bit more metal pipework, and the engine now has a set of Weber carbs although I wont add the air trumpets until later as they would be easily broken off again. The engine isn't actually installed yet as there's more to do to it first. I'm getting determined to see this one off well before Xmas. I've got a few other projects sitting on the back burner I'm quite keen to start but I don't like to have too many things on the go at once. roymattblack attached the following image(s):

More done on this one. I've added ignition leads, the wiring block on the cam cover, oil lines and side filter and the front chassis frames. I made the cross tube from brass tube as the kit part is just wonky 'oval' plastic. I still need to add the fuel line to the carbs and some detail around there, as well as the radiator, steering rack and header tanks next. On we go. roymattblack attached the following image(s):

Thanks Andy. I've now sorted the radiator to look more like the one in the real car. Strangely, it seems to be all polished ally except for the actual core and fan shroud. Anyway - that's how it is. I'm now also looking at fitting the door skins to the hinges. I've built enough of these big Revell kits to know by now that the doors NEVER fit - and that's even with the kit coupe rear. The fact I've added my own roadster tail has made it worse. There are gaps along the rear of the door edge that need building up a bit. To do this, I pressed the ends of the door skins into Plasticine and cast the parts in resin. I've added thin plasticard to the backs of the door skins and this will be trimmed back to make a support step for the resin parts. Eventually, I'll trim the parts to the correct length, hopefully to get the doors to be a nice fit, and then I'll sand down the join. With any luck, the added part won't show... roymattblack attached the following image(s):

Many thanks for looking in you chaps. I've now sorted the door gap issue pretty much. The fault came mainly through my own mis-alignment of the roadster tail when it was bonded to the floor section. I've no idea how, as I measured umpteen times with the door skins taped to the front scuttle section so the tail would be in the correct place. Even so, it seems I mounted it about 1.5mm too far back. Not a lot you might say, but enough to give me a big gap at the rear of the doors. It was sorted by gluing a thin strip of plastic sheet on the reverse of the door edge to act as a joining strip. Before that, I had pressed the end of each door into a slab of plasticine, and cast two door ends in resin. When they were set they were cleaned up and bonded to the door ends. Again, after setting hard the joins were filled and cleaned up. I deliberately made the new edges far too long so I would have plenty to work with getting them the correct length. Now I have doors that fit - they still need painting. The engine has moved ahead with the header tank, coil, intake trumpets and more wiring added.
