Hi thought I'd make a start on this with the cockpit started,I have the eduard big ed set for this, starts with the pre painted etch which makes up the main consul and other bits, though still plenty of dials to paint in,quite a few ejector marks need filling to. Vallejo 70.808 blue green is good match to the pre painted etch.main rotor diameter is 494mm and it's 565mm long with rotors turning. Still alot to do in cockpit yet.cheers mick .

Looks a great kit Mick and you've made an excellent start already with the cockpit. That Vallejo Blue/Green does indeed look a very good match for the pre-painted etch parts.

Well done, looking good, will follow your build with interest. Cool ThumpUp

Mick

Thats a new kit on me - never knew this was available in 1:35 scale.

The cockpit looks very futuristic i think - almost looking like some futuristic space craft.

You painting and detailing looks very nice indeed.

Hope it all vontinues well for you.

Tony

Hi thanks for looking in and your comments, much appreciated as always, started on the fuselage side, by filling in the ejector marks, and adding more etch detail behind the door, not my neatest etch work, but it look OK when get some paint on it, got bit of superglue on one edge where I dropped the vent box, before I'd positioned it, hence the scratches on at bit, scraping it off, it be on show at the end, as I'm building it with doors open on the ground, cheers mick BigGrin

Hi done bit more on this, finished the cockpit, just added a bit of silver dry brushing to the edges of parts, not going to weather this one to much,as I like it as it is.then made up the engines, I painted them aluminium first, then couple coats of thinned dark iron, then a purple wash and then orange wash, then dry brushed with aluminium, and a black wash at the end, they turned out OK for me,they look like some heat bin through them, cheers mick. Nice kit and well done until now BigGrin

The Mil Mi 24 is eternally anchored in my memories of my German army time.
When I was a private at the sergeant school ... I retired from active service with rank who in the UK and US equals a sergeant first class ... we had the basic aviation course. Behind a MG-3 (7.62mm x 51), the instructor showed me a model of the Mil Mi 24 and asked:

"Private, you're on the air observation post behind the MG-3 and see this helicopter fly towards you and your unit, what do You do now?"

My Answer:
"Roaring Air raid alarm, seek cover and hope they did not see us and the Mil Mi 24 just keeps flying on!"

Of course, my comrades laughed, but the drill instructor did not think it was funny and shouted:
"What, you do not want to fight the helicopter with your great machine gun and protect your comrades?"

My answer:
"Sir No Sir, of course I want to protect my comrades and that's why I'm not shooting at the Mil Mi 24. Also, I have no desire for a suicide mission!
When the Mujahedin in Afghanistan in the 1980's shot with captured Russian 12.7mm (Cal. 0.50) MG's on the helicopter with no real effect ... I will for sure cause lesser then zero effect with 7.62mm ... and the only effect is that they will take notice of me and are very interested to shot back with their huge weapons arsenal on board!"

Bang! ... That sat hard on the mind of the drill instructor, because no way to deny these facts Flapper
