Hi all,

Is there anyone in the US that has used a US vendor for batteries? My R2 has been sitting in a closet incomplete due to not having any batteries and I'd like to finish it eventually.

Thanks,
Ryan

Purchased mine from here.

Can't guarantee they work until next month.

I ordered mine through Amazon. The Samsung button tops can come and go pretty quickly though. Also try Batteries Plus. The critical detail is that they MUST be unprotected, and charged initially via the single battery charger provided with the build. The UltraFire batteries aren’t really up to the task, based on personal experience.

I'm in the US and I got mine off eBay. Yeah, I know.....
I got 20 UltraFire 3000mA, 3.7V, Button Top, 18650 Li-ion for $21.75 So far, no problems. The 6 I pulled for R2 charged fine and has been working fine. I haven't decided whether to let go of the extras, or keep them as backup.
*IF* you want the name of the seller. I had no problems with him at all.

It would be good for others, to know where 'here' is...

Roy, I'm having a hell of a job trying to find anywhere in the UK that sells batteries with the correct specifications. Most 18650 batteries without protection I've come across don't have a button top. Finding unprotected 18650s with button tops is difficult. I thought I'd found some suitable unprotected Panasonic 18650s with button tops, but they had the wrong capacity (3400mAh instead of the required 2600mAh), so those batteries were no good. As I said, finding 18650s in the UK that meet all five specifications looks to be next to impossible. Perhaps my R2 is destined to end up as a very expensive static display model. Crying

EDIT: Having said all that, I've just found some batteries that seem to match the specifications exactly - Samsung 26F 2600mAh button top 18650 batteries with nominal voltage 3.7V. Blushing

Higher mah shouldn't make any differnce, the batteries will just longer than ones with a lower rating. Important part is the battery voltage rating and it having a button top that will make contact!
