I have just started the HMS Victory on the 12 month option.

Has anyone built the Victory but added double planking to the hull?

I have already decided to do the copper hull, and giving some serious thought to modifying the kit to allow for double planking. This basically involves sanding off about 1mm from the original hull planking once fitted to the ship. The ship will be unpainted.

Andy

There hasn't been many Victory kits built with a natural finish and I don't know of any who have decided to double plank. I think the very best example of a natural finish build of the Victory can be seen here:

Hope you find this interesting and useful as you embark on your build....Cool Cool

Thanks Alan,

That is quite an impressive build. On past builds I have preferred double planking to hide the pins or their holes. However as the Victory's hull is so big it does add some character to the look. More thought is required... BigGrin
