Whats the best way to do this?
Wait for all keel parts and then do it in one go,or assemble as a part comes along?

I'm waiting till I get all the keel and rib parts first, then I will build a jig to keep the keel straight while I'm building. Regards,

I will wait to receive all the keel pieces first, in the meantime I shall build a jig and build and paint the cannons and anchors.

Good morning ship mates, I was going to wait for the first four or five issues before starting the build but I am now leaning towards the idea of waiting for all the false keel parts the constructing a jig..John.W Current Builds: Deagostini HMS Victory: Deagostini HMS Sovereign of the seas. Completed Builds: Del Prado: HMAS Bounty: Hachette: RMS Titanic: Del Prado: Cutty Sark...

I made the mistake of building the keel bit by bit on the Titanic build. The result wasn't very impressive as the bow section had a slight banana shape off to the starboard side. As frustrating as it is I think it is important to wait until all the keel parts are neatly piled on your work bench. Patience is the order of the day on any partworks build.

Waiting is the key! You don't what a ship thats great at turning in one direction, but could go straight to save it life!

I too have all 6-issues, but cannot start to build until my wife and I move into our new flat, this wont be until about July so I am patiently waiting until then. It's good that we have this forum and that I can enjoy reading all the topics and watch as those that have made a start have posted their build pictures. Some really useful tips. Have built up my accessories though, I think I have about everything apart from the toolkit which I know wont be available until early June. Itching to get started, then I wont emerge until I have caught up with you all.

You'll need a jig when it comes to gluing the ribs onto the keel frame,it's easier to to keep everything square. CURRENT BUILDS HMS HALIFAX HMS BOUNTY LYDIA EVA(STEAM DRIFTER) MANTUA COASTAL CANON COREL VICTORY CROSS SECTION TAMIYA 1/35 MATILDA MK 2 HACHETTE TIGER TANK DRAGON 1/35 TIGER TANK

Hi Ferret ...yep a jig is important ...there are threads on here that will help you with the size needed....but to start it off...one of the cheapest ways is buy a shelf.(b&q or any outlet you can find). sell cheap shelf kits .....get a 3 foot one...and corner brackets are realy cheap off e-bay they are from a pound plus postage for ten(some cost more but have cheaper postage)....you will need to get 2 sets though ...because you will need 14 at least..hope this helps... .John...
