Hi all,
Finally got my first shipment and getting started on my first pack. Already a question Confused Confused I cut my deck planks to 65mm in length as directed. When I lay them out on the deck they don't look the same as in the pic in the directions. The planks don't come nearly as close to the end of my deck as shown in the directions when I lay them out. Is this a concern. Probably a dumb question, but I don't want to get off on the wrong foot.

Hi Den

Take a look at the official build you will see that my planks fall short like yours. Its not a problem as you add more planks as you add the decks all will look uniform.

Shipment 1 complete!. Guess I'll just sit around now and stare at it until the next one arrives BigGrin BigGrin . Question, On the forward mast hole, the beam underneath is seen within the hole as you can see by the pic. Does that need to be sanded out so the hole is completely round?

Hi Den, in relation to your question regarding the beam across the mast hole. Take a look at stage 5 of the Official Build, the text outlines what you need to do....

Finally getting started on Pack 2. Maybe it's just me, but sometimes I find the directions confusing since my results don't always match what I see in the pics. For example, it states to draw a line 27mm from the front across the spar deck. In the picture the line is clearly behind the cutout in the front of the deck. When I draw a line on my spar deck 27mm back, it intersects the end of that front cutout as seen in my pictures below. I refer to the official build thread and see that one is the same as mine so that lets me know it's correct.

Good to see your progress Den, will keep following your work....Cool Cool

If you look at your part and the part shown in the instructions, you will see the slot for the bowsprit in your part is longer than the one shown in the instructions. As long as your line is 27mm from the front then shouldn't be a problem. Also, if you look at the Official build you will see your line position and that shown on the Official build look to be in the same place....Cool Cool

Thanks Alan,
I guess the kits have changed along the way. When I looked closer I did notice the difference in the slots.

Got off to a slow start with pack 2, but finally back at it. About halfway through and I have the gun deck on and stained. I went with a dark walnut.
