What an outstanding race, perhaps you could say he may have had a little luck with Vettel's tyre bursting on lap 1 (very odd that one) but actually looking at Lewis's pace for the weekend, you have to wonder if Vettel would have managed to hold him off in any case. Lewis managed his tyres and his pace to Alonso perfectly. Welcome back Lewis and very well done.

Would have preferred Vettel to have been in it to see the if Hamilton was back on song, or just the fact Vettel was out of the way.

Yeah cracking race and I too would like to have seen if Lewis could have won with Vettel in the race. Personally I think he would still have won but not by much as the McLaren seemed to have a lot more straight line pace than the Red Bulls today though it was opposite in the corners so it would have been close I think. Also a shame that Jenson had his KERS problem otherwise it could well have been a McLaren 1-2 methinks ?? Cheers ... Kev.

Perhaps it would be timely to remind Hamilton's fans that he is still the number 2 driver in the Maclaren team, judging his performance over the season. I believe I'm correct in saying that Jenson cannot be overtaken by Lewis now and is still likely to be number 2 in the world after Brazil. I found it profoundly biased in the way that the BBC reported the race in their news bulletin when having praised Hamilton for winning the race, they merely said Jenson came in third without pointing out that for a significant part of the race he did not have the advantage of KERS. Instead he held off the challenge from Mark Webbber in the second Red Bull which gave Lewis the chance to run round the circuit without any real opposition. For me 'Driver of the Race' has to be Jenson Button, considering the technical state of his car for much of the race and his masterful driving under trying conditions. Mike T

Oh and I forgot -- Jenson was only 9 thousandths of a second behind Hamilton in qualifying but all of a sudden, the BBC team were shouting about a Vettel/Hamilton battle as if Jenson was nowhere to be seen on the grid. Mike T

Its good to see the spring back in Hamilton's step, but I have to agree with what you say Mike.

I too agree with Mike and would add that not only did Jenson do a sterling job fending off Webber WITHOUT the help of KERS, but he also spent quite a few laps punching buttons on the steering wheel to reset the onboard computer and try to start the KERS up again - all whilst travelling at great speed on a tricky circuit - AMAZING skill !!! Kev.
