Issue/Stage 41 Contains – Left & Right Undercarriage Doors, Hinge Retainers x2, Lower Front & Rear Engine Casing, Gyro Cone Upper and Lower Halves, Upper Shroud, Horizontal Vane, Retro Thrust Nozzle, Cooling Vane, XW06 Screws x 9.

Assembling the Engine

Take the lower front engine casing and the retro-thrust nozzle. The nozzle has two pins that fit into the mounting post in the casing. Press the parts together as shown. Take the five remaining engine components and fit the pins on the upper half of the gyro cone into the holes in the horizontal vane, making sure the vane is the correct way around. Fit the lower half of the gyro cone over the projecting pins as shown. Press the parts together so they fit flush. Fit the two pins on the upper half of the gyro cone into the matching holes in the upper shroud and push in place. Then fit the longer pin on the cooling vane into the hole in the lower half of the gyro cone.

Installing the Engine

Take the two sub-assemblies you have just made, plus the engine mount and two XW06 screws.
Align the upper shroud with the two curved slots in the semi-circular intake on the engine mount and press the shroud into place. Next, match up the two lugs on the front engine casing with the two holes in the engine mount and fit into place, lining up the pin on the end of the cooling vane into the hole in the front of the casing. Holding the parts together, turn the assembly over and fit two of the screws provided through the holes in the engine mount and into the engine casing as shown.

Fitting the Doors

Take the lower rear engine casing, which has two locating pins and two lugs that match holes in the engine mount and press the casing into place. Turn the assembly over and drive two of the XW06 screws through the holes as shown.
Next, take the two undercarriage doors, two hinge retainers and four XW06 screws. (The doors and hinge retainers are numbered. Make sure you have the hinge retainer and door of the same number)
Line up the right undercarriage door as shown, matching its projecting hinge with the holes in the engine mount. Fit the hinges through the holes and hook the pins into the grooves on the other side of the engine mount. Holding the door in place, take the hinge retainer as shown and fit it over the two lugs between the hinge pins and secure it with two XW06 screws.
Now take the left undercarriage door and fit it as you did with the previous door as shown.
Once assembled, check that both undercarriage doors open and close smoothly.

This issue/stage is now complete. Store any remaining parts in a stage labelled bag.

Issue/Stage 42 Contains – Fission Chamber Upper Half, Fission Chamber Mounting, Upper Engine Casing, Plant-on Details (X9).

Assembling the Engine

Take the engine casing and the two parts of the fission chamber. Press together the mounting and fission chamber connecting the two pins to the matching holes. Next, fit the two mounting posts on the fission chamber into the matching pins on the inside of the engine casing as shown.
Take the nine plant on details and identify each one, then fit them in place as set out in the diagram shown.

This issue/stage is now complete. Store any remaining parts in a stage labelled bag.

Issue/Stage 43 Contains – Fission Chamber Upper Half, Alluvial Damper, Turbo Generator Body, Fission Chamber Mounting, Turbo Generator Rear Cone, Hydraulic Adjusters (X2), Turbo Impeller Blades (X2), Turbo Impeller.

Assembling the Engine

Take the assembly from stage 42, together with the alluvial damper and two hydraulic adjusters. Push the alluvial damper, which has a mounting hole, into the projecting pin from the engine casing. Align the two pins on one of the hydraulic adjusters, noting which way around they go and fit in place as shown.
Take the remaining parts provided and fit the rear cone to the turbo generator body. Line up the notch with the projecting lug and push firmly in place. Align the two pins on the turbo impeller with the matching holes in the turbo generator and fit in place. Fit both the impeller blades into the two rectangular sockets as shown.
Next fit the turbo generator into the fission chamber fitting the pin into the keyhole shaped mounting. Press firmly into place.
Finally, fit the two pins on the fission chamber mounting into the matching holes in the collar on the fission chamber.

This issue/stage is now complete. Store any remaining parts in a stage labelled bag.

Issue/Stage 44 Contains – Lower Engine Casing, Thrust Nozzle, Locking Collar, Engine LED, Reflector, Lens, Thrust Diffuser, Plant-on Detail (X7)

Finishing the Casing

As in previous assemblies match up the detail shown then press them firmly into the holes in the casing.

Assembling the Engine

Take the sub-assemblies from stage 42 and 43, together with all the parts provided this time. Fit the four pins on the thrust diffuser onto the holes in the lens. Note, one pin is smaller that the others, so it only fits in place as shown. Align the assembly with the thrust nozzle, matching up the notch in the lens with the internal rib on the nozzle. Fit the lens in place and press it in as far as possible.

Uncoil the lead attached to the LED and fit the tip into the hole in the reflector, making sure it comes through on the other side. Carefully bend the wire down so that it follows the curve of the reflector on the side opposite to the notch on the rim of the reflector. Fit the plug through the hole from the assembly from stage 42, pulling the lead through inside the engine detail towards the second hole at the rear as shown. Feed the wire through until the reflector is in the correct position.
Feed the plug through the hole in the lower engine casing provided in this stage and carefully line up the two mounting posts on the engine detail with the pins on the casing, making sure you do not trap the cable. Press firmly into place. Attach the curved end of the reflector onto the slot in the casing with the notch on the reflector facing up.
Line up the two halves of the engine and fit them together, making sure that the reflector goes onto the slot in the other half of the engine casing.

Press the thrust nozzle all the way onto the assembly making sure that the notch and rib line up. Fit the locking collar over the end of the engine, with its tapered end outwards.

Take the battery box you used in previous tests and plug in the lead from the engine LED. The light should come on, filling the diffuser with a red glow.

This issue/stage is now complete. Store any remaining parts in a stage labelled bag.
