This one is going to be based on a genuine GT40 owned by a friend of mine.
I intend making the model as close to his car as possible which will mean a complete repaint at the very least.
I'll look at and compare other parts of the car as the build progresses.

I've attached a few pics of the genuine car I'll be replicating.

That’s awesome! I wish I had a friend with a GT40Drool. That will be a cool color scheme to replicate.

I look forward to following your progress on this one

Gonna be some serious mods coming along then as the bodywork is completely different. Look forward to following your progress on this! Would love to see some more detailed shots, especially the interior and engine compartment 😍

It's only really the front bonnet and vents plus a few details that are different...
Should be fun.

Looking forward to following the progression roy, I know your the master with the GT model and I'm very jealous you have a friend who owns a real one.

What model mark is that one and what year?

His car is a Mk 1 but I'm not sure of the year.
It's a genuine car - not a replica.

Royalmattblack; Any plans to do any upgrades, like the brake rotors? I'd like to get some machined for this model.

Ok - no more hanging about now that I'm up to pack 9...
On we go.
First bits needing repainting will be the front body.

Pics to follow...

Not much to see just yet.

I've removed the orange and black areas on the front panel so I can get it repainted without any hint of 'raised areas' caused by different levels of paint.
A rub down with fine wet and dry next to give the grey primer a key.

That looks a nicely make part and looking forward to seeing it get a decent re-paint.

I was so tempted to do that on my Jaguar build but lack of experience plus cost of the model I was to scared of messing up the whole thing.

It's just 'jump in at the deep end' Tony.

First coat of dark blue.
Let it dry 24 hours, fine wet sand and further coats...

I like your style Cool

Looking good so far! You mind if I ask what grit you start your wet sanding at?

On this, the original finish is really good so I just used 800 all over, a good wash and dry and then paint.
