Wow! Just opened up the first packs of R2D2. Looks to be a fun build. Just happened to peruse the official build diary. I have to say that I am more than a little intimidated. My skills fall more in the detail work, not so much wiring and whatnot.

Could anyone offer any advice that has completed the build.

take care

Its not really a difficult build. You just have to plug wires in-there is no soldering or anything more involved. My advice would be when it comes to the electronics take your time and check yourself. Many issues people have had have been related to plugging wires into the wrong socket. The hardest part for me was getting my fat hands inside the model to plug the wires in.If you run into any issues just post on the forum. There are tons of members who have already built R2 who would be happy to help. I would also recommend getting a plastic container to store the screws in so you dont get mixed up with which screw to use.In some cases you will use screws provided in a previous months parts.

I completely agree with Carl. It’s not a challenging built in terms of required expertise, but it will ABSOLUTELY challenge your attention to detail. You have GOT to pay attention, especially when it comes time to start connecting things.

I agree. Building the model is pretty easy. But you must take care with the wiring. Make sure every plug you install is in the correct hole, facing the right way, and fully inserted. That as well as buying the correct batteries should lead to a happy build. And even someone with large mitts like me was able to get everything plugged in correctly, but that was challenging.
