Another one comes into my collection of cult vehicles.A car that made history. The Trabant, also popularly called "Trabi", or "racing cardboard. The car was made of leucoplast and had its advantages. The body did not rust . You had to wait up to ten years for your car in the GDR. A timely order was therefore all the more important.
Engine Specs: Engines: petrol engines: 0.6 liters ccm (17-19.1 kW) Length: 3555-3560 mm Width: 1504-1510 mm Height: 1437-1467 mm Wheelbase: 2020 mm Empty weight: 620-660 kg
It's going to be fun to build this car with its caravan. The color alone, baby blue .
Issue 1 The first construction phase deals with the assembly of the front grill. The bumper was put together. The end is the assembly of the front apron on the bumper.

Issue 2 The hood comes with issue 2. Here the locking mechanism was mounted on the bonnet, followed by a reinforcement strut for the bonnet. The crest in the bonnet is also cool. The completion of this construction phase was the assembly of the two-jet nozzle for the windshield washer fluid.

Issue 3 Now the first tire with a rim. Then mount the steering wheel on the steering column.

Issue 4 It continues with the Trabi 601 with construction phase 4. The start is the subframe. The left wishbone was installed. Then the joint for the left pivot bearing with brake caliper and anchor plate. Finally, the cross member with towing eye.

Issue 5 With the construction phase 5 comes the floor panel. The leaf spring with damper and the assembly from construction phase 4 are installed here.

Issue 6 Construction phase 6 includes the rear base plate.

Issue 7 Construction phase 7, the rear wheel arches.

Issue 8 Here part 1 of the bulkhead is pre-assembled and equipped with some details, as well as components. Among other things, the voltage regulator, the wiper motor and the nameplate are assembled. Although tiny, you can read all the data and the place of manufacture.

Issue 9 Pre-assembly part 2 of the bulkhead. The defroster nozzles followed, as well as the controls for the heating and ventilation. The master brake cylinder was also attached to the bulkhead. The assembly of the fuse box completes. Now the lower bulkhead was installed on the front floor panel.

Issue 10 The front wheel arches and the side parts for the engine compartment followed.

Issue 11 For a change, a construction phase on the interior. The formwork panel. Spartan, but cult. There wasn't much, but what was there also worked. In addition to two retaining clips, the speedometer was installed.

Thank you very much! but you know, that's funny, it's the same color as my GT40 Le Mans ... just don't swap the parts
... when they opened the Border you could get one for 100 German Mark, you want to buy one now,you had to pay a lot of money. So time changes.
