Hi all,
A little history behind the story.
As some of you may know I do some voluntary rubbish clearing from a local canal in Loughborough in the East Midlands UK.
We work from a small boat with a max crew of four, but we make some great collections for a small group.
Unfortunately just over a week ago the gear box on our outboard started to give up, so in for repair it went.
Its a 3.5 hour journey to the repair yard, approx 9 miles, seven locks and numerous bridges.
In recent floods a narrow boat had broken loose from its moorings and came to an awkward rest when the waters receded. As if that was not bad enough the protection barrier that it ended up on collapsed and it turned on its side.
In eight days time they are going to try and recover the vessel and move it to a place for repairs after pumping out the water.
Pic 1: A five hour collection on our little boat.
Pic 2: Clearing invasive weed last summer. (That`s not me)
Pic 3: Where the narrow boat initially came to rest.
Pic 4: Where the narrow boat came to rest after the barrier collapsed.
If I can get there in just over a week, I`ll try and get some of the recovery pictures. Be the end result good or bad.
