Hi All, BigGrin BigGrin

With things as they are at this time I`ve been waiting for several deliveries recently and today must have been local delivery day. Blink Blink

Unfortunately still have a couple of things on the waiting list, but this is whats arrived today.

In no specific order:

Long awaited Dremel accessories.

Home brew beer kits. My other hobby. hic LOL LOL

Plus this mighty "Hawker Hunter" a production of West Wings which now appears defunct, unless someone knows differently. I can`t find a trace of them on the internet and I think the kit I`ve got here may be the last of the line.Confused

Now this is not going to happen right now for a couple of reasons:

1:Other things to deal with first.

and

2:I need a serious amount of space as this is a "biggun" and that space is just not available at the moment.Crying

So this kit in a few details:

Hawker Hunter in RAF colours

Wingspan 707mm (27.8 inches)

Length 965mm (38 inches)

Can be an electric air ducted fan model with 3 channel RC control, but it will be a static model to go with my BAE Hawk.

Seen here: https://forum.model-spac...spx?g=posts&t=33526

Below I have attached a few pics:

The box art

On box description of details

Clipped picture of a completed kit.

Watch this space for updates. They may be a while, but I`m not going anywhere soon in the present run of things. Crying Crying

Looks a very nice kit Derek and one of my all-time favourite jets, very sleek and elegant plus my father used to work on the Hunter engines (amongst others) when he was in the RAF many years ago, so doubly interesting to me!

Looking forward to the build mate, will be following. Cool ThumpUp

Hi Chris

Still going to be a while I`m afraid. Crying

Left thumb still not fully recovered (although improving) and modelling with only one hand that can grip fully is difficult.

Hope to be back in production of some building asap.

I love large scale kits too. you can lovingly open the box and drool over the contents until you get around to building it.Thats what I do anyway.

Hi All, BigGrin

I have previously made a model BAE Hawk by the same manufacturer:

https://forum.model-spac...spx?g=posts&t=33526

The model in the above link has been donated (Gratis) to the Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Museum, home of "Just Jane NX611" the Lancaster Bomber that`s undergoing restoration there.

Although this is not within the era of the museum, when they get to fully reopen post pandemic they have my permission to raise funds by whichever means they see fit with the model to aid in the Lanc`s restoration. Every little helps as the saying goes.Blink Blink

I'm not usually a 'wingy-thing' person but the Hawker Hunter is memorable for being one of the first (Airfix) plastic kits I ever built at about 9-10 years old.
I'll watch this one with great interest.BigGrin

Hi All, BigGrin

Watch this space. Blink

Hope to get some sort of start on this soon, but it will not be a flying version just the static build. So for the veterans amongst us and even some who have never seen a build like this a diary will be produced.

No problem Chris,

I`ve had a tendon issue with my thumb (left) for over a year. Specialised exercises have helped to alleviate the problem, but not sorted it fully. That may need surgery at a later date, but with the way things are at the moment that could be some time off in the future. Wifey was 3 days from cataract surgery when the first lockdown occurred and is still waiting with no date for when it will happen, so I`m not holding my breath. Crying Crying

Hi All, BigGrin

Bleating over, here`s a bit of an intro to the up coming build which thankfully doesn`t require a major gripping of parts.

This build will be a bit strange to the people who have built similar flying models before.

The fuselage of these type of models are normally constructed in two halves, but this being a bit different each half is built in two sections. So four parts to the main fuselage.

I am building this as a static model (non-flying) and some parts are designed to aid easier flying. This involves changing the position of the wing flaps and a slight enlargement of the tail sections to improve stability. I will be sticking to the plans provided albeit a static build. The differences are hardly noticeable.Blink

Introduction:

Designed by Sir Sydney Camm, the Hunter became Britain`s best selling jet fighter.
The P1067 prototype first flew in July 1951 and was demonstrated at Farnborough the same year.

With a red paint job, pointy nose and modified windshield it broke the World Absolute Speed Record in 1953 with an average speed of 727.6 mph average over 3 runs.

The real wingspan is 45ft 10.5ins (old measurements) and the models wingspan is 27.8 ins, so the scale is 1:19.8 so 1:20 give or take.

So that`s the intro done.

Keep eyes open for the build start. Drool Drool

Yep looking forward to it Derek, I was at the 51 airshow, but at the 53 show and can remember my Father and older Brother pointing at a plane to that shape, also at that airshow I can remember a display of the Flying Bedstead VTOL test rig which became the jump jet now in the Science Museum London
