Guys,

I'm sure you will all have an opinion on this, but as most of you know, I'm starting my first model kit in the next few days, which I havn't done in surplus of 12 years. And at that time, I didn't really care about painting it, I just wanted to build it!

Soo... my question is, when you get a model kit, say revell/tamiya, parts attached to the sprues, how do you go about painting the parts?
I'll explain why I ask - I've looked at the manual for the Paffett DTM car today, and, take the engine block for example, the whole engine block, apart from the top section is to be painted an aluminium colour, and then one section, the top, is to be painted gloss black. I'm wondering, with split colour parts, how you would approach it?
Would you airbrush the part, and then add the black after when dry? or brush paint it?

As much as I want to learn the 'hard' way, I'd like to make it as easy as possible, and with some of your brains on the case, I know I'm in good hands! I want to get it right before I pick up the wonderful MP4/* models I have!!

If any of you have enough time to write a step but step from say opening the box to decalling the car that would be great, but I know we all lead busy lives to I wouldn't complain if you didn't!!

Cheers guys!
