Overall view. The long lengths of wire allows me to operate the lights remotely, while the battery pack and switch can be hidden from view in a suitable location within the display stand. Good evening from 'The Dockyard'. Further progress made on the U-boat as i get ever closer to completing this mammoth project. First up i painted and fitted the anchor, then applied a liberal coating of rust powders. It looks okay, i might go back to it and retouch, we'll see. I then turned my attention to the propeller shafts. The part-works supplied a length of wooden dowel to be cut to length. Bit rubbish tbh, so i made my own from brass tube. The attached photo shows the 2 original plastic propellers supplied with the part-works and then later on, a pair of metal ones were also supplied. The plastic propellers were not 'handed', the blades going in different directions on the left and right, which they should of been. The metal ones are 'handed', but their pitch is not as prominent as the plastic versions and when test fitted, they catch the aft hydroplanes supports, so i will have to make up some spacers. I completed the painting, weathering and fitting of the aft hydroplanes, twin prop shafts, propellers and twin rudders. I may take another look at the algae and 'refine it a little', but will see how i live with it for the foreseeable.
