Here is my Vespa 150 GS build diary. I have had this kit for some time, so whilst browsing through the box, I decided to make a start. I won’t be making a step by step diary as this has already been done by Andy. What I will be doing is posting pictures as each stage or section is complete. As I build this kit, I will be adding some toning to the chrome and paintwork as I did with the Easy Rider. This is to tone down the brightness of the colour and to add highlights where needed. As you can see in the first set of pictures, the silver badge now looks more metallic, polished, highlighted as well as giving more depth. This was all done with oils, liberally painted over the areas, left to dry and then polished with cotton wool. Stages 1-7 have been completed.
More soon. MarkMarkwarren attached the following image(s):

Thank you Alan. This one is certainly a whopper of a size, but by no means does it make it easier to construct. Very impressed with the detail of the parts. Mark

A bit more done. I’m waiting for a replacement part on the engine, so I skipped through the packs to assemble the front section of the Vespa. This is a big kit and superbly detailed. I have a picture of the real thing, and you wouldn’t tell which one is the model. Anyway, here are some pictures so far.
Happy building. Mark

This certainly looks like it's going to be a huge model. I'll be watching this to see how it turns out. Great stuff.

My replacement clutch parts arrived this week, so I continued with the engine section. All the parts have either been painted or toned down from the original paintwork. This takes some time, as most need to be done before assembly. This kit is extremely detailed, as you would expect given the 1/3 scale size, and goes together without a lot of fuss, with the exception of some of the tiny springs. Anyway, here is my progress so far.
Happy modelling.
Mark

Looks very nice with your changes Mark I'm inclined to agree with Tony that this may have been more popular on a subscription. Al

Thanks Tony and Al. I was a bit apprehensive about getting the kit to start with, then when I saw Andy building it and how big this kit was, it looked like he was building the real thing. I’ve got the seat to make soon and that looks like a kit in itself. Mark

This genuinely looks totally real. Are you sure you're not rebuilding a real Vespa?
Amazing...
