Hi Alan, I'm new to this forum - but not to ship modelling. I am making the model of the Victory's "Sloop" and have completed the tricky task of internal and external hull planking. In your text you mention priming and painting the hull? Can I ask you what you did as regards painting and varnishing the wood. In some photos it looks as if the hull was primed or painted white but in others it looks as if the timber was left bare at this stage?
I look forward to your comments.

Hi Tony, only the lower part of the hull was primed and painted. The rest of the sloop was sanded smooth and finished off with a clear matt varnish. You could use satin varnish which will give you a subtle shine to the unpainted wood.
Hope this helps..
Regards
Alan
