Hi all, I just began the E-type build. I have a "real" 1967 E-Type in pale primrose yellow with black interior that I am going to try to model after. I will include some photos of the real-thing next to the model parts as I go. I started today by beginning to re-paint the under side of the bonnet with primer and then the pale primrose yellow (the same paint that I have used on the real car)...still needs to be clear-coated though. I also re-colored the leather seat component with ColorBond black leather refinisher that I also used on the real car's seat in a repair. Worked surprisingly well. I will likely mostly put photos on Instagram more than here so that I don't have to post twice, but who knows. If you want to see the first photos they are @mattsanf on instagram: https://www.instagram.com/mattsanf/ I have not built a model in many years even though I am an active woodworker as a hobby. I am looking forward to doing this one, and the monthly thing seems like a great idea. I don't think that this partwork idea existed when last I built a model. Nice to meet you all, Matt

Hi Matt, what a fantastic idea and welcome to the Forum. If you decide to do a build diary, i, for one would certainly follow What a way to create a scale model, when you have the real thing This forum is great for advice and tips. Don't be afraid to ask, but i'm sure you'll do just fine Regards Gray

Hi Matt, Welcome to the forum. I can only reiterate what Gray said in the previous post. I`d love to see some pics on here of the real thing and your progress with the smaller version. Regards delboy271155 (Derek) COME BACK GUY FAWKES "YOUR COUNTRY NEEDS YOU"

Thanks to you both. I will give posting some photos here a try...below are a few photos of "Jayne" my 1967 E-Type series 1.5 hiding behind the shop equipment on the other side of the shop. Then are some photos of the bonnet being repainted in Pale Primrose Yellow to match Jayne. I sat the bonnet on top of the "real" bonnet. This is the same paint used on the car, but it has not yet been clear coated so it looks a bit different. Also here are some photos of the seat leather after being re-colored with ColorBond refinisher that I used on a seat repair on the real car.

Hi Matt and a warm welcome to the forum.. There are a couple of useful topics to be found here outlining how to go about uploading pics so they show on your post rather than a download link.. Hope you find it useful.... https://forum.model-spac....aspx?g=topics&f=20

mattsanf wrote:Not sure what I am doing wrong posting photos... From what I see your pics are much too large. Normal forum size would be 650 x 480 pixels and a file size of around 150kb. Format should also be JPG and JPEG... Regards Alan

Thanks! It has taken years but the shop is now how I want it. My wife has known for years that my goal in life was "an above-ground shop"...and I finally got there. Trying to post in-line photo again on this one. If this works, I will delete and replace the others.

This is what I used to re-color the leather on the seat material to match the real jag's black leather. I had used this for a seat repair in the real car. Worked well on the model's provided leather seats. mattsanf attached the following image(s):

Did the wire spokes for the first wheel tonight. Yikes, painful but possible. I would not have been able to do it without the magnifying headset in the photo. mattsanf attached the following image(s):

Below is a photo of the top of the engine. My "real" XKE engine has a gray/silver block rather than the bronze colored one in the kit. So I repainted it to match. Photo of kit one and then real one.
