Hi All, BigGrin

I emailed Hachette C/S to see if this was a full release or still a test and this is the reply I received:

Hi Derek,

Thank you for your email.

If you wish to subscribe to this collection please follow the link below. I can confirm that this is fully available with an estimated 120 issues.

Derek

How strange (i guess the Hogwarts Magic) that they did a test and then straight to a launch.

I wonder if this will be subscription only as there is nothing on the national title file to give any indication of when it will be in the shops.

I am still holding out for that “must have” :-) not sure what, or even if at all, that will be but wanting to hold back the “pennies” now that i have reduced my subscriptions.

2 more harley, a few more months worth of the lambourgini, halfway through the bismarck (but that is turning to a collection rather than a build) and 84 more spitfire editions to go.

Sure this hogwarts build will be popular as the whole thing looks nice you you go for the premium sub snd get the station platform.

I will be interested to see this one being built.

Tony

Happy Modelling

BUILDING: Hachette Spitfire Mk 1A, Constructo Mayflower
SUBSCRIPTION COMPLETE (Awaiting building): USS Constitution, Sovereign of the Seas, 1:200 Bismarck (Hachette)
COMPLETED: Porsche 911, E-Type Jaguar, Lam Countach

Excellent news. I do hope that if/when DeAg or someone else decides to bring it to the US they will still offer the Platform 9 3/4. If my calculations are right this will cost £1278.83 / US $1671.33. Note to self - start saving.

I fear you may have a long wait for this in the US as Hachette say this is only available in the UK/ROI. Crying

You are absolutely right. For some reason Hatchette has a dislike(?) for the US. For subject variety, especially 1/8 scale subjects, Hatchette is the leader.
But I will remain positive that the Hogwarts Express will eventually be made available elsewhere. Making it available only in the UK/ROI just doesn't make sense economically. And the Harry Potter fan base is huge world wide.
Fingers crossed.

I hope the information you received is correct - I signed up for this on the 1st September and haven't received anything yet. I'm also building the Spitfire and when I check my account, the Hogwarts Express is showing as active, but is completely blank.

Hi Mickey

The info I posted in post #1 was from Hachette CS, so should be good.

I have also received a confirmation email that states "Subscription Confirmed".

In your situation I`d give Hachette CS a ring and question what`s occurring. It may be that your application got caught up between the switch from "Trial" to "Full Release" or if it was still a test when you applied you may have been out of the test area. Tests are not usually nationwide.

Hope this helps.

Its just a pity Hachette don't let you delay starting a build from issue 1 for a few months, that frustrated me with their Bismarck build and I'm waiting on Agora to announce their options on that.

That's what's so good about DeAgostini's business model, letting you ogle other peoples builds in here for a few months before you decide to dive in yourself. This forum is their best marketing tool for new sales of older model stock.

With three builds on the go currently at £ 130 a month between them and eight months to go to finish the first of them I'm under the ever present gaze of SWMBO so sneaking an extra £45 notes in right now for this is a complete no go.

Well jell for those that do have the funds to go for this one right now.

I'm looking forward to some rather excellent build diaries in here and the to be expected WorldOfWayne YouTube build porn when he finds out.

Derek, I think you're right. Just had this reply from Hachette CS about my Hogwarts Express subscription and it's non-appearance;

"Thank you for your message.

I do apologise about this.

I can confirm your subscription is active and running fine for yourself from issue 1.

Unfortunately we have had a stock delay with the issues in the collection and are currently waiting on a further update so we can then get the issues out to you.

Usually orders are processed and dispatched within 28 days of setting up the subscription however due to this delay, the timeframe may be slightly longer.

Apologies for any inconvenience caused.

If you require any further assistance, please don't hesitate to ask.
"

Don't know when we'll receive the issues though.

Well that`s good news of sorts.Blink

I`ve had the "up to 28 days for delivery", but I`m guessing they have been inundated with orders and its a lot more than they expected.

I`m happy to wait.

When I told SWMBO that I had registered for a subscription, I quote " I knew you would" and she denied having any interestConfused . I just kept quiet at that point.LOL

Just a waiting game now.

Just checked my Hachette account, and apparently they sent me an invoice on the 23rd October (not received at time of writing this) and it contains a charge of £0.00 for "Hogwarts Gift 1" and "End Test Letter". I get the impression that this won't be happening just yet Sad

Hi Mickey, BigGrin

Never say never.

All it seems they have done is closed down the test and given you the first freebie as a thankyou for taking part.

Seems to me that with most tests the parts issued have slight changes made so they are no good for the real item when released. Hence why I never buy early issues from ebay, normally parts 1-4 just after any test has finished.

Personally, my sub still has 14 days left of the up to 28 day delivery stated.

I`ll wait and see, but it will be a great shame if this is not released. Especially when their CS said via email it is on full release.

We`ll see. Blink Blink

Have today made a check on what is going on with this kit, because my account now shows "end of test letter" being dispatched 20/11/20.

Having received an earlier message saying it was to be fully available and others being told there is stock delays, I have been told today that the test has ended and a decision as to "fully release" will be made soon.

So we are back to a scenario of "Will it, Won`t it".

Wish they would make up their mind and instruct their CS dept accordingly.

Here is my view on “tests”

By the time there is a test, they have already invested in the tooling. Maybe not enough to do the full run, but enough to limit an area, spend a few thousand on free parts, and see what marketing works best. They limit the area, to keep the costs down.

Think about it. What was the last kit that DIDN’t show eventually? Maybe Hachette did a test, it didn’t perform, but the kit shows up by Centauria in Italy. And so on, and so on.

Here in the US, that’s one game we don’t have to deal with from DeAgostini. Eaglemoss plays the game though, and it’s frustrating. Hachette has no partwork presence here, yet.

I’ve been doing part work kits for 10(?) years now. My first was the Stuka. It’s been downhill from there, and picking up steam! The cool thing about things here, is we get the thrill of the hunt when we see an older kit, that’s looooong OOP!

Cheers! (To a great hobby)

Mark
