Evening Folks Trust yous are all keeping well in these uncertain times Looking for an aid to constructing the hull of SMS Scharnhorst I came across her sister ship SMS Gneisenau. The construction of this model is slightly different as the upper frames are off set to the lower frames. She still has all the cool lines from the armour belts and decks Noticed that they have supplied templates on each side of the lower frames thus making it easier to "plank" the gaps in between Making a start Enlarged the templates by 200% on to kraftpaper giving a scale of 1/100. The copier paper tray was set for Heavy 1 and went through without jamming. Templates cut out and used carpet spray glue to stick them to 2mm thick MDF Cut and sanded one half off the keel and some lower frames. The slits were cut and sanded to give a smooth fit without putting any stress on the keel Plenty more to go Thanks for lookin' budgie attached the following image(s):

Thanks Gents for popping in and taking the time to comment Anyhoos...There are tabs on the lower hull frames which slots into a false deck (if done properly ) This should keep everything square..ish Thought it still best to make some kind of build board come jig to hold things together to start with. Removed the card template from the mdf The keel is in 2 parts not glued together yet Thanks for lookin' budgie attached the following image(s):

Now, that’s something that never occurred to me; using a paper kits profiles for patterns to do a scratched wood build! (Yeah, I miss the obvious a lot....)
There are some very interesting paper kits out there...

Chris Thats awfully optimistic of you Chris, thinking that I may require a shelf with my track record Anyhoos Folks some pictures of progress before I start dismantling her. Nothing has been glued yet but I think it best to strip her down and get some glue and supports on the lower frames This will also give me a chance to see if I can redo a couple of them. The ones that have wee pointy bits for the thin line that runs along the hull Thanks for lookin' budgie attached the following image(s):

Looking good, that is quite some size. You could almost get a mini champagne bottle to launch her with once finished. Mark
