In Part one of my work to improve the look of the partitions I demonstrated how it was possible to create a more realistic look.
In part 2 I will put the partitions together and mount them on the ship along with the Admirals companionway cover (also in the build discussion forum area).
Having compleated the 5 partitions as described in part 1 I proceeded to put together the 'box'. I used the same method as the magazine to get a true corner. The rear partiton is mounted on the side partition which is the other way around to the magazine.

Once the superglue was set I did the other partition and then fixed the two beems. The beams are longer than stated in the magazine by about 4mm but I made mine 6mm longer. Also note I have painted the beams white, which is the correct colour. It is not necisery to cut out a section for the mast.

I then placed the box on deck and test fitted the two front facing partitions. I needed to trim and shape the edges to fit. it is better to take this from the panel side. although I did take 1mm from the other edge. The instructions in the magazine position the cabins to far forwads. This results in an incorect look and some aditional positioning issues later in the build when fixing the binical cabinet. This is not a fundermental issues but is easily corrected. I have simply moved my cabin partins back. I belive the correct position to be 5mm forward of the rib aproximatly 10mm further back than the magazine. Positioning the cabin further back has no consiquence for any other part of the build as I can see, and will alow me to put in the archway that is also missing at a later date.

Once the glue had dried on the cabin partitions I added the companion way cover. This is situated just in front of the rear partition next to the door (1 panel in from the right as you lookar the front of the partition) I carfuly positioned the cover with tweezers and a coton bud to hold in place as I removed the tweezers.

That compleats my improvments to the partitions. All the skills needed we have already used building this kit. I know it might look complicated but it realy is not and the extra time is worth it in my view as it will be one of the focal points on the ship. There are other tweeks in this area and I will go through them in my build diary.
