Hi Everyone

Here is another update, which shows start of infilling with balsa to the stern frames. The balsa is of bits left over from my SotS build, waste not, want not...Laugh

Hi Everyone

I have infilled the Stern and now the Bow flares with left over balsa from Sots...I think this will be a good basis for later cladding ( method yet to be decided....BigGrin Cool

All looking very good John.

Like the idea of infilling with the balsa. That should give you a lovely base to work the planking/cladding over.

Hope it all continues well.

Tony

Hi Everyone

Here's a little more progress - working on the rudder / rudder frame...Cool A lot trickier than I thought and took quite a lot of trial and error before I was happy with it...Cool A bit more touching up to be done though....BigGrin

More progress now...Cool

Did more infill to stern section...Cool

Have decided to infill the complete hull as it seems too fragile...Blink Each section will be filled by hollow box using 9.5mm balsa -instead of a solid infill - and just as firm as it turns out...BigGrin Cheaper too!...Laugh

BigGrin Hi John
Looks like she is coming along well

With regards to comment you made on shaping the stern on my build

I think I will remove the filler at the last frame
Then once the planking is complete fill the last frame in again and sand to shape blending in with the final thickness of rest of hull

I think that may be the easier option

Looking forward to your next update

Hi everyone

Some progress for March...Cool

Fitting of the Maindeck (stern section)
* Planked using 5mm x 1mm lime wood. Caulking achieved with a 2B pencil at 2.5mm widths to maintain scale. Then clear water based varnished - 1 coat only...Cool
* Extreme after deck is/was steel plate painted Red Oxide. Found a good colour match with Admiralty Paint Red Ochre...Cool
