Hi there I've already purchased Issue #1 and started subscribing from Issue #2. No #2 and #3 should arrive in few days so I can't wait. Still need to get paint set and few bits but I have plenty of time (as we all do :) ) I post some pictures when I start my build properly. Tom

Hi again Some more stuff just arrived today (some paint, fine chain, glue, micro drill bits, files set, etc) I'm hoping to get cracking this weekend. I want to add more detail to the 12-pounder, anchor and carronade aswell. I'll post up some pics when I've done something  Tom

Hi I've starter my 12-pounder for now. First thing I did was filling groves on carriage because they were too deep, then I added some more detail. I'm going to paint it later when I finish my carronade. Take a look

Hi again. I've had a little break in building but I'm back now. My canon and carronade are not painted yet because I don't see much point in painting one canon at time - I'll paint at least few of them at once. The time has come to build the Launch. It is my forst wooden build so I'm bit worried about my planking skills but check my results so far. I'm going for painted finish so even if planking isn't 100% right I should be ok :)

Hi Captn. Yes, I cut them down and I need to tell you that it is much easier now. I know that you end up with twice as many planks but shaping them is easier. I hope to get the planking done tonight and post some more pics. Tom

Tom Hi tom, i had to re-order issue 6 after breaking one of the ribs. This meant that i could have a practice go at the planking, and was finding it a real b****. I think i'll go down this route too. My other problem was that i don't think i chamfered the bow enough....it looked like it had a step in it

So far, so good. Using half width planking does seem to make things easier when it came to bending the planks - it just takes twice as long and uses more glue. The only thing trickier that I found with doing it that way was shaping the ends to fit - being thinner made them more prone to flexing when I got the abrasive paper out. It simply requires a little more patience - but the results are certainly worth the extra effort. Schnellboots on back burner

Looking good Tom, but are the planks easy to cut straight without splintering? Just finished putting the ribs on my launch today without breaking anything so far?? Hi Jonny Cutting them planks wasn't difficult - just make sure you have sharp blade. Capt Stedders - you are right. Planking is easier but takes more time. But we have loads of time aren't we ? :)
