UPDATE: THE JAIL.

Most towns had a jail of some kind even Tombstone in the early days Tombstone was a wild lawless town with tensions simmering and a distrust amongst the silver mine owners, townspeople and city lawman including the Earp's,there was always a fundamental conflict over resources and land so I had to build a Jail.

This build again Coffee sticks,1.5 brass rod (jail cage) plans also I used Woodland Scenic Concrete mix to cover the jail walls, this is a fine liquid so I mixed sand to give it a grit look.

Have a look.

Next the Blacksmiths

Regards

Trev.

Hi Tony,

Good to hear from you and thank you for looking in, well I have built a few Tombstone models so far and will be posting when finished, the next post will be the (Blacksmiths) which I have. enjoyed, some of the tools are so small that it was a job to make them.

What I do like about the Tombstone build is that is all my own work from drawing up the plans after looking at old pictures on the internet, and then working to 00 scale 4mm to the inch it can make you think a bit.

Regards

Trev.

Hi Derek,

That Concrete is easy to use and will set very smooth but to get the right effect I had to add sand and paste glue to make it look gritty and then spread it on with a coffee stick.

Try.
modelshop.co.uk ( this is a London based shop near the Tower ) 020 72641288.
go to Home/ Cast & Mould / Pigments /find Liquid Pigments 118ml /then Concrete 1217 £8.65

Hope this helps

Trev

Hi Alan,

Thank you for your reply, I will be posting my next build which will be the Blacksmiths, just a few more pictures to go, this has a host of detail in it including very small tools I know that they used back in the 1880s, all sizes of horseshoes, a fire station and sandbox, Bellows, Roof windows, etc.

Regards

Trev

Tombstone Update: Blacksmith Workshop.

With all the in and outs of people in Tombstone 1850 the Blacksmith was a very busy man and need a vast number of tools some he had to make himself to do the job in hand. The first picture shows tools he would use on a daily bases, take the horse shoes they were made to order to fit the hoofs, these shoes were made very similar to how a Blacksmith would,I heated a piece of 1mm wire and shaped them round a small nail and then bashed to shape on a flat metal block.

This picture shows the base shape to the workshop.

More Soon

Regards

Trev.
