Excellent stuff Roy! I personally would be interested in how you go about working out the correct size on the computer screen so that it prints the decals at the required size for the model? Cool ThumpUp

Hello Kev.

The decal sizing wasn't a problem in this instance as I still had the crumbling useless original sheet.
I scanned them into my PC and then just drew over them at 100% in my art programs.
That way, my own version of the decals are still the same size as the originals.BigGrin

OK - nearly 8 months that these lumps have been stuffed away in a box.
I decided it's time to get them out and do some more work.

Still undecided on the 2nd car colour scheme but next I think, will be making copies of some of the resin bits I'll need for car 2.

Thanks Ken.
I didn't want to do the 'same-old same-old' Gulf scheme - no matter how much I like it.

OK, first coat of red, this time deliberately over a grey primer as I wanted the red to be a tad darker.

Some wet sanding tomorrow and then a few more coats.

Another update for those looking in.

I've now added the assorted white stripes - a bit of a mission in itself - and I've created and printed the required decals.

On we go still...

Well, I'll keep updating.

All the decals are now applied.
I did apply blank number decals 24 hours before adding sinilar decals but with numbers on.
This is because a white decal isn't always dense enough to stop red from showng through.
2 decals overcome this problem.

When it's all been drying for 3-4 days, I'll clear coat the body to seal everything.

Many thanks for the kind comments chaps.

The next step will be to make duplicates of all the resin parts to complete the red car - the original parts will be used in the white one.BigGrin

Again, many thanks...

Just a quick pic of the next stage.
The supplied kit part for the floor and cockpit.
You can clearly see what a BASIC kit this is.
I'll copy that part primarily with sheet plastic. There's little point in adding a lot more detail as the design of the car with such small windows means that the interior can't really be seen much anyway.

Parts of the kit engine are stuck into a polythene box and will be filled with moulding rubber. Then I'll be able to make a cast for the second car.

LOTS of resin parts to replicate...LOL LOL LOL

I've made a separate post about creating the duplicate resin parts I'll need for the red car.

I'll make rthe floor section mainly from sheet plastic but just to show how bad this kit really is, take a look at the shape of the supplied kit floor.
It's in NO way symmetrical, it's uneven, crooked, everything but correct.
A lot of 'fixing' to do with these parts.LOL LOL LOL

Another little update for those peeping in.

As previously mentioned, the actual kit is utterly dreadful for what they cost - in excess of £400.

For your money you get parts that are clearly made 'by eye' - completely un-symmetrical, crooked, misshapen - the list goes on.
However, you get something that nobody else makes as a kit and it's a project to get your teeth into.

As this kit arrived with a completely broken body, a second body was included.

Instead of binning the broken body I repaired it as best as I could and that is now the white model.
The spare body is the red car.

However, there are only one set of all the other parts needed to make a complete car for the red one.

I've made rubber moulds of many of the parts now and the interior tub and floor have all been made from thick sheet plastic.
Some resin casting of wheels and seats to do today.

The engine intake fans (the black bits) have been copied, painted and fitted.
The transmission has also been copied but not painted yet.

On we go.
