So its finally time to start to look at this build, I won't do a big diary Laugh Laugh as kpnuts did a good job with his build.

So theres not much I can really add except for what I was possible looking at doing with the lights and smoke and wheel, So I show them as get to them.

More soon, as at the moment I've only just washed all the parts ready to begin tomorrow hopefully.

So I have started.....

Yet I think this kit is cursed for me, so besides missing a whole fret of parts which darbyvet helped source for me, which was a great help, thank you so so much. After washing the parts and leaving them to dry I started to put the parts away, as doing so I checked them against the parts list don’t know why as I don’t normally do this but low and behold a piece has somehow vanished Mad Confused Mad

C22 the top part for the chimney it looks simple so I’ll see about making one when I get to that part of the build, so far all I’ve done today is look at the wheels as I want to get them out of the way due to the fidderly painting of the detail and also the way they have you build the rear wheels so I’ve done mine by gluing the spokes together first that way I only have to clamp the outer rims in place.

Good to see you starting on this.If you have trouble with the chimney I can send you a replacement top with the electronics.

I will be posting a turorial on how to use an infrared remote to control lights and motors in the electronics folder and I will be using the board for this model as an example. I will post on here when I post the tutorial. Although this board will be specifically for this model the pinrciples and design can be used for other models too.

That would be great mate if you could send me that part, would save me a lot of hassle getting the shape right.

This afternoon I’ve spent building sub sections of the model, I’ll post photos soon.

Ok so heres some pics of the Pendle Princess, Ive done a complete dry run on this one and made sub-sections as I'm not sure how the elections will fit and if it possible to do what I was looking at.

The issues I might have are the smoke unit generating heat ? possible, the motor how to install it and will the idea work as there will have to be some resistance on the wheels to allow the belt to grip and turn if not I don't think I can place a motor inside the main body to just turn the main wheel, plus is the wheel is turning then the pistons should be moving this could be a lot of pressure on the plastic parts. So I might just end up with smoke and lights or just lights, so much to still work out and try or it could all not work.

So the rear wheels I've made the spokes as one unit so I can add the rims making it easier to paint and build.

The main body has been built except for the rear panel at the moment, this allows access if needed.

Dry run to see how it all fits.

I have managed to allow all the pistons to move if I can turn them slowly it might work.

Slight turn to show it all moves

Dry fit of the instruments and cover.

Main parts fitted.

And all the sub sections I've built ready, these will all be primer'd and painted including all the gold parts as they look horrible.

Front boiler door I've made so it opens.

Side panel left of at the moment unit I've worked out where the electronics will all go, and the same for the electric generator.

Like kpnuts this piece is rubbish, so I've also redone it.

This piece was broken and the part was missing so I had to redo it.

So thats it so far all the parts have been test fitted and will now be primer'd and painted, no rush as the electrics need sorting first before I can start to paint the main parts incase any diy is needed.

I'll be sanding of the pipes from the side of the boiler and replacing with some brass wire/rods and relaying them as they should have a tap/values at the top of each of them and then a control rod heading back to the cab area.

I'll update this when I've done some painting and other bits, but it won't be for a while.

Thanks guys for looking in.

While I'm priming and filling and sanding I've had a little play with some lights I thought might work.

I cut a couple of them off to see what I could do.

They don't look to bad against the side frame.

A quick test to see how they look with power.

So I had an idea for the lights but how to power them and not have loads of wires running around the inside .

I positioned them where the kit lights would have been.

A kit light for comparison, I don't think I'll get a build the same size.

Add some power and let there be light, these are just running of a small 5v button battery.

How I've powered them I'll show later if this works out.

Hi mate, yes the idea was to have a 12v mains unit to run the main board.

Will these lights be ok I’m not sure how much they can take.

I would need to see the datasheet on the lights. If they light up with 5v 12 v may blow them without a limiting resistor

We need to know the forward voltage of the LED to calculate the value of the resistor to limit the current through the LED.

If you dont know the forward voltage you can measure it with a multimeter.I can show you how to do that if you are not sure.

Theres only three things I know about electronics,

On/Off
+/-

and it hurts when you get electricuted Cursing Crying

I opened up the switch unit which runs on 3 LR44 batterys that came with the lights and there is a very small resistor, from the switch with the following colour bands

Brown
Black
