Has anyone else had issues when using Klear or as it’s called know Pledge multi-wax. My two current models I’m building I’ve used klear which I’ve had for some years but for some reason it’s drying to a milky/cloude finish, I’ve used this stuff for all my other models no issues at all. Does this stuff have a shelf life? Luckily I’ve got some of the original stuff which I’ve managed to go over and has removed the milky finish. I’ll get a new bottle and see what happens. I've not experienced it myself or heard of this happening before with liquid floor polishes and I've been using Johnson's 'Klear' for years, still got quite a bit of it left too!
I've heard and experienced a similar thing happening with some semi gloss clear coats which are made specifically for modelling purposes where they cloud over unexpectedly. 'Johnson's 'Klear' and the newer 'Pledge' are basically liquid floor polishes, as you know and not intended for clear coating models but they do work very well and fast drying too. In matt and semi-matt varnishes the matting agent used in manufacture is, or at least it used to be, talcum powder and all that is happening here, is the talcum is separating out from the binder, and is usually a sign of insufficient mixing though it can just happen spontaneously. When it has clouded unnecessarily in the past the normal method to correct that is to give the varnish a really thorough mixing then give the model another coat, which usually corrects the problem or better still a light coat of gloss followed by another layer of well mixed semi-matt.

Over here, we used Future. They changed the formulation quite a while ago, and I think it’s now “Pledge, with Future” I’m still coasting on a bottle I bought several years ago. Steve Humphreys of the Charger OB has a bottle even older, and he’s having problems with it going white, and Orange peeling his color coats.
