Couldn't keep away from the Rocket. Nearly finished the engine and tender, got a couple of wheels to trim, bit of rust to be added here and there. I'll finish off the stack today and place the last pipe coming out of the rh cylinder.
The build was fairly straight forward, nohing to vague. The lugs on the suspension didn't match the slots in the chassis, easily fixed with my trusty file.
The 5mm dia. 'thing' on top of the fire box, I actually drilled a hole in the top of the box and pushed some dowel through for a more secure attachment. This enabled me to use one piece of wire that went straight through a1mm hole I also drilled into the 'thing'. Made that asm easier and I matched the angle both sides on the model.

Only one additional spoke on the wheels snapped when I was shaving off the width on the remaining wheels, just needed more care and sharper chisel to fix that. Attached a couple of pics, hope you like em.

Looking good. I do like the aging affect you have achieved, also using something that actually looks like coal and not the gravel OcCre provided.

My next build is going to be the OcCre London Tram. I have the kit already just setting up a workshop in my garage, this will be well out of the way of my grandchildren

Looking forward to your next post

Gil

I really like those tram kits, I think my next build will be one of that set. I look forward to your build log of the tram.

4 weeks to the day, showing a couple of pics of latest status. All but done the model, a little bit of detailing and a couple of parts to paint. I plan to continue with the log as I'm going to make a case, tracks and a background for it. Not sure if that will be worthy of following, but I don't want this build to finish.
Thx for following along, I look forward to checking out some similar builds as this is the type of kit I like. A big plus to this kit is it is fairly compact, so displaying it on top of the TV or on a shelf is not space prohibitive.
Here's this weeks pics.

Hi,
I've been working on a display case for the Rocket, it's coming along ok. I'm building it on the fly but it's pretty basic so referencing any non existent drgs shouldn't pose a problem. I plan to purchase an acrylic sheet to put round it, that will come later............... The tracks are made from scraps and left overs from other models, I glued up 3 pieces for each track to form an offset I-beam. The actual base which I cut from some scrap planks I had in the garage.

I don't know if anyone can help me? I have been trying to find the correct scale figures, a fire stoker or driver would be ideal. Any idea where I can order one/some?

Thx for following along.

The scale of the Model is G Gauge or 1:24.
Try a Google search for model railway figures of that scale

Good Luck. ( Ill stick with the Fat Controller on my display. Don't want to upset the Grandkids)

Looking forward to seeing the completed model

Thx for replies to finding railway figures. Found a couple of good individule figures that are time period accurate(ish), but shipping to Canada adds another $30+ so still looking for something a little less costly.

Here's latest pics of the display case, I just bought some perspex sheet but have not started cutting it up yet.
