I got this one as a part-started box of bits some time ago. It's going to need breaking down, cleaning up and re-building. I'll be adding in some of the usual Pocher 'missing' stuff, as well as adding leather and carpets. I'm tempted to do a 'kind-of' based on the racer in the pictures, without going overboard on conversions. Now that I've made a start, I can only say how gobsmacked I am at how CHEAPO and toy-like this kit is. I've seen it said elsewhere, but now I completely agree. It's a huge Burago toy. All my previous Pocher experience has been with the old, complicated Classics. Pocher really cut corners and created this kit as cheaply as they could. When I started taking the front frame apart the first thibg I noticed was that all the screws are the same. Big, chunky cross heads. Also, the plastic is a kind of soft vinyl, so a huge number of parts go together as snap-fit with enormous over scale connections. I am not joking when I say it took me literally 3 minutes to disassemble the front. However, on we go. My first 'upgrade' was to bare metal foil the faces of the brake disc, and then add my own printed decals to represent the vents. One of the pics shows a basic kit disk, next to a foiled/decalled one. roymattblack attached the following image(s):

Another update here. The calipers have been painted and 'Brembo' decals printed and applied. Small brake pipe connectors have been added for pipes to attach later on. Everything de-seamed, cleaned, repainted and put back together. A few hours of fun. roymattblack attached the following image(s):

Another little update for anyone looking in. The rear chassis and engine had already been assembled and as with the front steering/suspension parts yesterday, this entire assembly came apart in literally a minute. Incredibly, the engine only has 4 screws in it! Everything else is push fit. Talk about basic!  Anyway, the chassis frame was cleaned up and some missing panels and struts were added before everything had a coat of matt black. Engine sorting next.  roymattblack attached the following image(s):

Fixing, repainting, rebuilding and adding detail to the engine has been fun so far. Incredibly, for a 1/8 scale model, the ignition leads are the ONLY cables/wires in the whole engine bay! And even they are terrible! I remade my own using soft red wires. I've used loads of reference pictures of genuine car engines and I've added loads of wires, tubes, pipes etc but there are still more to go. I've started work on the interior. Yet another big, nasty plastic lump. As I'm making a racing 'kind-of', there will only be one seat and a fire system on the other side. First off, dismantle the already built blob - about 2 minutes. Add some floor strengthening based on Google images, repaint matt black and then leather trim the grotty seat. Harness made from red fabric tape and scrap bits of plastic. On we go... roymattblack attached the following image(s):

Many thanks Malc. I've added the pedals to the interior and now cast a resin part that was missing from the exhaust. I only needed one of these parts so I made a simple Plasticine mould from the kit part to cast. Now sanded smooth and glued in place. roymattblack attached the following image(s):

Back on this one for a while, as I wait for paint and glue to dry on the Lotus 72. As I mentioned at the start, this was a 3/4 (badly) built model with some bits missing or broken. Being one of the later 'big Burago' Pocher kits, it all came apart in a matter of minutes as its incredibly basic. Next up for now is paintwork on the body. The race version I'm making never really existed but I like the scheme anyway. The door strakes and recess will be bright yellow but so far, just masked and primed in white. A bit more this afternoon. I've painted the door inner panels and assembled them and they are now fixed to the body. An appalling fit I have to say as being diecast, there's not really much that can be done in the way of adjusting them. They don't look too bad in the pics but trust me - they fit where they touch. Front subframe etc now in place, as is the dashboard. As I mentioned previously, this really is just a giant Burago so I'm adding detail where it will notice. roymattblack attached the following image(s):

Many thanks Ken. Hello Robin. I use Serif Page Plus and Photoshop. They're both fairly old but I've been using them for years. As the old saying goes, 'If it ain't broke, don't fix it'... This big old beast is coming together fairly quickly now as it's basically just 4-5 big sub-assemblies which are now sorted. As with most Pocher kits, umpteen parts just don't fit. Rear side windows and frames for example. I had to use a razor saw and blade to get the clear windows anywhere NEAR the opening shape. Fortunately, the outer black frames cover up the tweaking. I appreciate it's an ancient kit but it's YEARS behing the current DeAg models such as the Countach, E Type, Porsche, GT40 etc in terms of detail and just basic engineering.
